How to pull on the pump

Last week I posted a query under ‘Egg in scrotum’, to which I received some helpful replies and for which I'm thankful. I decided to start another post because my question has changed.
Previously, at three weeks post-op, when my scrotum became palpable and I could feed around, apart from ‘the boys’ I could feel only a large, solid mass. In the past couple of days, I can now detect the pump and what I presume is the valve, although not in any detail.
The pump etc. feels much larger than the plastic/rubber model I was supplied with. The upper end where the valve ends is located at the front of the scrotum and up against the base of the penis shaft. So it feels like the pump is growing out of the shaft; I can’t detect any tubes.
I’m wondering if anyone else has had this experience and what happened. I’ve been told (not by my surgeon, but what I read on this forum) that it’s common practice during this time before activation for guys to pull on the pump to lower it (and to draw the tubes down with it, I guess?).
For those of you who have done this, I have a couple of questions:
1. How hard do you pull?
2. How often do you pull (daily, once, more)? I know some of you do this in the shower or in the bath.
3 . How long do you pull for (e.g. in one day, or in one session of pulling)?
4. Do you do the pulling in one long pull or in short bursts?
5. Do you have any sensation when pulling? (I presume if it hurts, that may not be a good thing.)
6. Have you noticed that the pump descends in the sac because of the pulling? In other words, is it successful, and how long does it take to see results?
7. Do you have any aftermath following the pulling (e.g. pain, discomfort, etc.)?
My surgeon is out of the country and I’ll see him on Monday of next week for the first post-op visit and activation. One of my concerns is that if the pump doesn’t drop out of the way of the shaft, it will interfere with the depth of penetration during intercourse (because it seems so far forward on the shaft).
All responses will be greatly appreciated.
