Ready for Implant - Florida Surgeon Recommendations

Hello FrankTalk! I just discovered this site recently and I'm so grateful that this community exists.

I have always felt alone with my lifelong ED and have suffered alone for far too long.
It's such a relief to know that there are others out there just like me and some that have already blazed the trail.
The few urologist I have been to have done nothing but make me feel more inadequate and helpless.

In 2001 at 19 years of age I had a Penile Doppler Ultrasound test performed after having no success with pills and the pump. The diagnosis was venous leakage.
I have put off getting an implant these past 16 years due to ignorance; not knowing of others satisfaction with the implant and being scared out of it by urologists.
After reading so many success stories here on FrankTalk and other places on the web, I am now ready to finally get the surgery myself. I feel getting an implant is my best and only viable option.

Unfortunately I do not have the funds to to pay for the procedure myself and choose any surgeon.
Right now I have Molina Marketplace 100 silver in the state of Florida.
My first choice was Dr. Perito in Miami simply because he has done the procedure so many times and is passionate about his work. Unfortunately Dr. Perito does not accept my insurance so I will need to find an alternative.

So right now my criteria for finding a surgeon is: Practices in Florida, accepts Molina insurance, and is experienced, practiced, and confident in the procedure.
I would be ever grateful if anyone who had the procedure done in Florida could share some recommended Surgeons that either they themselves or someone they know had a positive experience with.

Another possible option would be to change insurance providers during open enrollment and have new coverage for 2018. I do believe marketplace plans are required to cover pre-existing coverage, correct me if I'm wrong.

Thank you all for helping me through this. I cannot wait to put this part of my life behind me and to finally move on and start living life as intended.

I am scheduled for surgery nov. 3 with dr. brady here in orlando. I have spoken to one of his patients who he implanted a year ago and was very satisfied. I am impressed with him and will let you know the outcome. I don't know what insurance plans he accepts but it seems like he does take quite a few.

I suggest you take a look at Dr Carrion, Tampa General Hospital, he did my revision.
They accept Medicare and advantage (Obamacare), he is a volume surgeon, he has some medical papers posted online.

Does not look like Dr. Brady accepts Molina but best wishes for your upcoming surgery!
Let us know how it all goes.

Dr. Carrion looks like a strong front runner right now! I just need to confirm that he accepts my insurance and that they will cover the costs! Will give his office a call on Monday and be sure to keep you all updated.

Thanks Greg. Looks like Donnie went with Dr. Kata of Orlando. Another good option!

I believe the next month or so is when you can make insurance changes. If you are able and Miami is not horribly inconvenient, you might see if you can change to an insurance Perito takes. Perito "saved my bacon" after a botched implant by my Plantation FL urologist and revised me this past March when that one "went flat". Both times he encountered "issues" during the surgery and had the experience and expertise to deal with them..... Good luck man!

BTW....for my first Perito implant, as he was not a Humana provider, I paid him separately and Humana paid all else other than my deductible.

There are lots of great surgeons in Florida. Find one that will answer all your questions honestly before he operates. Best of luck. Your brothers are here for you 24 7.

I got so excited when seeing that Dr. Carrion accepts Molina. So I called the office this morning to confirm and he accepts Molina Medicare and HMO but not Marketplace...

The search continues.
