Local Doc for Sutures Removal?

The post-op instructions from Dr Eid say to have the stitches removed after 14 days.

You guys who couldn't return to your implant surgeon for that, what did you do to find a local doctor?
Does the doctor need to be a Uro or can a regular GP do it?
Did your surgeon give you a referral or did you have to call around?

I'm going to have this issue around the end of the year, so wondering what to do now.

Thanks

I stayed in NYC at my son’s apartment for 14 days, went to the appointment, and headed directly to the airport. Most people just go to their hometown family physician or urologist, and get them removed.

I returned home with a catheter and was told to contact my local doctor which I did a week later and had a very good nurse remove catheter and the doctor examined me and said everything looked good and if any problems arise call him
So far so good at 3 weeks
Unless you are having problems your local doctor should be able to handle stitch removal

Mine are also supposed to be self-dissolving. It's been six weeks and they're still there.

Yep, those self dissolving on my previous surgeries lasted about two months to fully fall out.

I already had a urologist... he referred me to the surgeon. The surgeon was happy to have my local uro do all the post-op care... he use to do implants. My sutures came out on their own. The instructions said to come back (7 hours again, hell no) but the doc said just keep them clean and dry. There was one that lasted for a month and when it got loose and kept getting caught on stuff, I pulled it myself.:)

I had my sutures removed by a local urgent care Dr. who I had visited several times and trusted. It was quite simple, and Dr. Eid sent instructions.

Thanks for all the good advice.

I have a local GP but it's a small private practice and I'd rather not discuss an implant with him or his staff.
I'll wait for instructions from Dr Eid and likely go the urgent care route.
