Sore on glans

I have a wound on the top of my glans right on the ridge that I have been trying to cure for the past3 years. It was caused by a reaction to a drug. Just the incontinence pads have been a trial. The sore gets raw if I do a lot of walking. Some days I bandage it up.( Wish I had my forskin). I am contemplating an implant. If I have it a little pumped as some suggest, I am fearful that it will rub raw. Any suggestions as to which brand implant would be best for my condition? Does one lay better than the other when flaccid?

It concerns me that you have had this sore for three years. That doesn’t sound normal. If your current Primary Care Physician or Urologist have been unable to find a way to heal it in all that time, I would seek out the surgeon you would like to use for your implant surgery and express your concern about the sore and wanting it to be healed before you move forward. I concur with you that it could be problematic because your glans does get more pressure placed upon it with the device inside you.

Have you asked your doctor about it? What did they say? How have you attempted to treat it? Has balanitis xerotica obliterans (Lichen sclerosus) been ruled out?

I'm not a doctor, but Job One is to heal that sore. That is all.

The antibiotic is Levofloxin that caused the problem. It attacked the skin inside my mouth and on my glans. Both areas exploded and started to bleed. This is a very bad antibiotic for some folks. It also attacks the immune system in some people. AND it never goes away. My GP sent me to a URO immediately. It bled for a week and the inside of my mouth also bled. I am also seeing a oral surgeon regularly. Now being treated by a dermatologist as well as the URO that did my RP. It is getting better with cream applied every time I urinate. But still there in the background.

Wow Beak, that really sucks. I hope and pray you'll get that resolved soon, as well as your other ED issues.

. Dermatologist says it is an allergenic reaction also related to eczema. Using Tacrolimus .1% ( related to Embril) many times a day. Seems to be getting better as I am being more conscious and treating it more often.

Beek and Larry,

I deal with both eczema and to a lesser degree psoriasis. Primarily on the scalp, face, chest and elbows. I periodically get areas on my glans or just below it that initially start out as red spots but untreated will turn into raw lesions or sores and increase in size.

When I originally saw a dermatologist for the issue on my dick several years back I was prescribed Triamcinolone Acetonide Cream 0.1% and 1% Silver Sulfadiazine Cream . I was told to mix the two creams and apply to the erupting areas. This treatment will slowly but eventually heal the eruptions, just very slowly.

I was also prescribed Clobetasol Propionate Foam to treat the eczema breakouts on my scalp. One time when I had a breakout on my dick and was out of the Triamcinolone Acetonide Cream 0.1% and 1% Silver Sulfadiazine Cream combination I decided to try the Clobetasol Propionate Foam 0.05% om my dick breakout. Amazingly it cleared the eruption in only a few days. I used just enough of the foam to get my fingertips wet with the foam and rub it on the eruptions. I did this a couple of times a day for about 3 days to clear it up. I've used this treatment method very successfully a good number of times over the years.

I told my dermatologist what I was doing with the foam. He mentioned that my usage was off label and that too much of that usage would thin my skin but he otherwise didn't have a problem with my usage due to the small amount I was using.

I was never given a named diagnosis of my problem. I suspect it's BXO. It clears fully with my treatment but will eventually return requiring retreatment. It usually returns in the same places as previously but eventually does choose a new spot. I no longer use the Silver Sulfadiazine Cream as it's an antibodic and it doesn't seem to help.

I shared that story as my symptoms sound similar to yours and so my treatment might work well for you also. Then again our issues may not be related at all. Beek, definitely defer to your doctor(s). Perhaps get a 2nd opinion from another dermatologist.

Edited for clarity and readability.
