Implant patient to be

Postby Galevin » Wed Feb 21, 2018 5:49 pm

I’m planning on implant surgery with Dr. Eid and at the pre treatment phase now in which my video conference is 3/1/18. I’ll be asking questions in this thread and have looked at Dr. Eid’s Website and it was filled with a huge amount of info. Couple questions:
1. I’m in Indiana and is it possible to fly alone? Going is the easy part, but staying a few days at a hotel is what I’m wondering. I’ve read that he prefers spinal anesthesia and will do whatever he recommends but did anyone travel by themselves up and back involving airports and hotels? Or is that strictly forbidden? I read that it usually requires three nights at a hotel. I’m single and would prefer to do this alone if I can rather than to pay someone to accompany me as the family will not know as they don’t need to know my private life.
2. Glans collagen treatment. I understand on his website that the glans needs some collagen buildup due to softening and was wondering if he does this the same time he does the implant? Would be nice as I’m traveling from Indy to NYC and would rather do all this at once than have separate trips but again will do whatever Dr. Eid advises.
3. What brand of vacuum pump is recommended? Gonna start this as I have nothing to lose. I had one a while back but the maid found it and I ended up throwing it away. Wish I would have kept the pump and gotten rid of the maid.

Thanks for the help and you will be seeing me around at least for the next 6 months.

Welcome Galevin. You found the right place.

I read a thread a while back where a guy went to Eid alone. Try doing a search and see if you can find it.

I cannot answer about Glans collagen treatment but I'm sure a search on it would bring up a bunch of information.

As far as the pump it all depends on you. Check out the Pumps section. I use a Encore battery powered VED and am preparing for my implant surgery March 16th with another east coast surgeon. He does let guys fly in alone. I am staying 5 days after the surgery just to be safe.

Good luck. Again this is the best place to be for anyone dealing with ED.

Please create a signature. It makes things much easier to answer your questions without asking a lot of questions. Here's how you do it
Click on your name in the top right corner and select "user control panel"

Then under the big letters "User Control Panel" there is a row of words... select "Profile"

Then down the left had side of the "User Control Panel" select "Edit Signature" (You might have Create Signature or something. I don't know exactly what you'll get because I already have a signature to edit)

Most guys put something like what I have, but you can put whatever you want. Here is mine -
"AMS 700 (18 + 2 rte's). Implanted March 30, 2017 by Dr. Brock of London, Ont, CANADA. Great surgeon. Went in to septic shock and had to have implant removed April 29, 2017. I'm from Belleville, Ontario, CANADA. Appt. for consult for second attempt is on November 6, 2017... I can't wait."

Don't get too carried away with the doctor like his name, address, phone number, etc (anything that looks like advertising for him).. you can certainly say Dr. Jones (great Dr.)

If you need further help, please ask, that's what I'm here for.

I'm currently on my 2nd day of recovery after an implant with Dr Eid on Thurs 02/22.

He does prefer spinal, however it depends which medical facility is being used. I had mine at midtown & they only do GA there.

I have travelled international alone and am currently in a hotel not far from his office. He recommends 3 nights, and I think it is wise to before travelling back. I am staying 5 nights before heading back.

You need to have someone to pick up after surgery, or they will not operate. If you don't have anyone, Dr Eid's office will give you the number of a medical chaperone who you can organize to pick you uo from the surgery and help you to your hotel for about $80

For the glans, if you get some engorgement now when aroused, you should have some after the syrgery also (as surgery doesn't affect that mechanism). I would suggest waiting till you healed to see if you needed it

I inquired about the glans collagen treatment......it's cosmetic and not covered by insurance, or at least my insurance which is medicare........it also ends up costing $4000 by the time you pay for the procedure and prescription medications......and then it lasts approximately 1 year......I didn't need it and decided it wasn't worth it.....
Implanted Jan 4 2017 by Dr. Eid - 70 yo and single...ED gradually over 15 yrs...tired of pills, injections, cock rings....happy with my choice and results. Titan OTR - one 20cm cylinder - one 20cm+1 RTE...."got a rocket in my pocket"....

1. I’m in Indiana and is it possible to fly alone? ...I’m single and would prefer to do this alone ....
.. AMSWER: yes, many patients have done this alone. Read the thread called "packing list" and use the medical escort and see if you can get a food delivery service to your hotel. I was at the bentley, breakfast room service was awesome. lunch and dinner you will be on your own.

2. Glans collagen treatment. I understand on his website that the glans needs some collagen buildup due to softening and was wondering if he does this the same time he does the implant?
answer:...this is a cosmetic procedure, you will need to pay out of pocket.
Eid said I really did not need it since my glans was OK. Likely, it would be best to get the implant, and then get the collagen much later if you really need it or want it (it is a simple outpatient procedure where you walk in and out). My gut sense is that this is for men who have a small shriveled up Head (glans) . If you display your penis lots in public, or if lights on prancing around the bedroom is central to you, then I guess the glans filler is worth it. For me, I am not convinced it is necessary (really is a cosmetic thing)

Hi Galevin and welcome!!

I can't speak to what he will recommend, there was indeed a guy who stayed in a hotel down the street from Eid after surgery.
I think he stayed for a couple weeks.

This is just my 2 cents and not advice.

I don't know why you wouldn't be able to fly after a day or two.
Suppose it depends on if you have a catheter and pain levels etc.

My experience was implanted 11am on a Tuesday.
Surgery done at 2pm. I woke up about 4pm when anesthesia wore off.
Ate and drank hospital slop and watched TV from my bed slept well without oxy.
Tylenol 600 was all I was on.

Next morning, doctor came in and deflated me. (My surgeon keeps his implants semi-inflated after surgery)
Deflation was uncomfortable but not excruciating.
Nurse came in and removed catheter. Holy fuck that's an experience.
Pain was near a 10 for those two seconds. lollll
But it was over quick. Never ever ever want to feel that again.

I called my girlfriend to pick me up (in your case it would be an uber to the airport)
I dressed myself and headed home.

You'll want to move gingerly and not engage your abs a bunch as the reservoir settles/heals behind that muscle wall near your intestines.
But movement is okay. (no exercise of course)

I've heard you should tell TSA you have an implant at security so they know to pat you down instead of xray or whatever.
I have no idea what glan collagen treatments are. That may be a good thing to use the forum search for. or post separately with glan collagen as the title.

Any other questions you can't find answers to, feel free to message any of us privately.
I check the forum often because I'm going through the post-op healing and love helping people with questions.
It's a crazy experience but I've healed about as perfectly as you could ask for and am thrilled with the results!

Cheers!

It’s been 3 weeks since my surgery with Dr Eid. Dr Eid and his staff are excellent but run into a problem I believe is common but here’s the problem. I’m ready to inflate and then deflate and it’s hard to tell what’s going on down there??? I’ve got the Coloplast sample right in front of me. I’m sure if I just started squeezing that I’m sure this will inflate but scared I’m not going to find the deflate valve? I’m still a little tender and swollen and wonder if I should contact an urology clinic here in IN and have then show me how to do this? I’m afraid I’ll have a hard on I won’t be able to deflate properly. Any and all suggestions graciously welcome.
Thanks
