Hey Guys, Just got my surgery date with Dr. Eid, April 13 and yes its a friday. I will be traveling from Michigan to New York and will be traveling alone. I am not a very experienced traveler and am hoping to get some advice and tips from anyone that has done this trip to Dr. Eid from out of state and done it on they're own. More nervous about being incapacitated in a strange city by myself than I am of the surgery. Should I drive to my airport so that my car is waiting upon return or cab it? Availability of ice in my room? Ten other things I haven't thought of.Love to discuss through private messages or by phone. Now if I can just stretch my dick another 3 inches in the next three weeks...

Woooo hoooooo!
Great news you have a date. Awesome.
Well I'm going to another guy but I'll share some of my thoughts. I have been walking every day to get ready to walk around for the stuff I need when I get there. I have a carry on for personal items I must have and a check on for dried fruit, snack crackers, protein bars, collapsible water container, gel packs(just in case), VED, pee bottles from the local drug store, ect. The carry on will fit in the check on for the return flight. I will be on a 15 lb weight restriction after surgery so I would cab it so as not to lift my heavier than 15 lb. suitcase in my car. I have 2 small pee bottles from the local Wall Mart and will try to remember to see if I can get another one when I have surgery. Someone posted Eid will leave the cath in for 3 days so you might use the pee bottles to empty the cath bag into instead of getting up for that the first few days. Frozen peas or corn is recommended by my guy also for Ice packs. My room has a frig. If it has a freezer I will shop for frozen veggies when I get there. I think Eid may want you to soak in a bath with a little bit of bleach. Bleach is a no no according to TSA. If I have a tub in my room I will shop for bleach when I get there. Figured I'll steal a page out of Eids play book. I have used alcohol wipes for years to keep the boys at the Y dry so I will need to get those when I go shopping also.
As I am alone I will be held past midnight. I need to ask if I can bring food and drink with me for after surgery and my laptop.
That's all I have. Good luck. Start counting the days down.

Dig out my old posts and read them for some suggestions. It was Kramer but the same issues apply. Try to get a hotel room with a walk in shower. Just remembered that EID uses baths so you might have to compromise. In a perfect setup you would have both. It is awfully nice to walk into the shower and pee straight ahead. Frozen peas are awesome if you have a place to keep them frozen....two bags and alternate. Also, a refrigerator is a must. Buy your meals ahead of time and put them in the fridge. You should stay at your hotel at least two days after your surgery.
I left my car at the airport. I had no trouble with the drive home. Your own bed will have never looked so good lol.

Read some of the threads by Tangerine and me, we both travelled solo from the west coast to see Dr Eid.
Be sure to read and printout Tangerine's packing list for your trip.
The only schedule I could make work is this one:
Tues: arrive Newark, take shuttle or taxi to hotel ( I stayed at Bentley)
Wed: pre-op consultation with Eid, 9-11a
Thur: shop for food and supplies for recovery days (Sat-Sun)
Fri: surgery, 5:30a check-in, returned to hotel with medical escort at 12:00.
Sa-Sun: recovery days, stay in bed with ice packs
Mon: 9am office visit with Eid, removal of bandages. Check out of hotel, car service to EWR & fly home.
I left the catheter in for the trip home on Monday which made the airline travel much easier. I removed the catheter myself, self-activated the implant, and started cycling it on day 4. Stitches removed at urgent care on day 14. No problems at all, never needed to contact Eid after the surgery.
For Medicare there has to be 48 hours between consultation and surgery, that's why Thursday is left open.

When I was contemplating air travel to thecEast coast forcthe implant, I figured on asking the airlines for wheelchair assisrance along thecway.
Even though Dr. Eid's pa5ients very often arecjust fine a few days aftercsurgery, I would plan on a cab or a friend for the trip from last airport to home. Use the Skycap/Porter service if you have any discomfort AT ALL. You will be restrictd in weight-lifting capacity for a few weeks, likely around 10 lbs/5 kg.

You guys will NEVER be alone as long as you have your FT brothers. Although peas and corn are the most recommended for icepacks, I found that after freezing and thawing(on my bag) a few times it freezes in one big clump. Use Navy Beans or dried beans or peas in a big sock... this will work for hot or cold and will last forever.
