Drive Home With Ice

I'm 99% having my dad drive me home immediately after the surgery instead of spending the night in NY. It's a 3-4 hour drive home between cab/train/highway.
Will I be able to make it home with no ice of any form? Or should I plan on an ice bag at least after I get off the train LOL.

You may have to have a catheter for 3 days if you don't stay overnight... each place is different. I would have a cold pack just as soon as you can get it, it very much helps with pain and swelling. Good luck

I went about 6 hours post op between the drive home and running errands before resting with an ice pack.
You'll be fine, just take an extra pain medication if it gets to be too uncomfortable.
Just dont let anyone get too close to you on the train.

With Dr. Eid you will have the catheter for 3 days, so that transportation combination for 3 hours can be a challenge. Just consult with him.

Have you had the conversation with the doctor about leaving that soon? If indeed he says it is OK, then my answer to your ice question is I was in the hospital 23 hours and did not start ice until I got home so it seems for the ride you could get by without it, but again that is a good question for the doctor.

If they discharge you that early, yes I'd say take a little cooler and a pack of frozen peas.
