Scheduled for implant on 2/28

Postby Lunatech » Wed Feb 13, 2019 3:26 pm

Well I just got back from my pre-op visit and found insurance is covering my implant (all but the remaining out of pocket max on policy) so I'm go for surgery on 2/28. Using Dr. Terlecki with Wake Forest Baptist Health in Winston Salem, NC. Good meetings with him, good reviews and he does 2-4 per week so while not mega high volume he does quite a few every year. He only uses AMS and that's OK because after all my research I was wanting the 700 LGX and he agreed that is what he will use. Nervous but excited. I know recovery can be rough but the outcome will be so much better. My loving wife is behind me 100% and her being an NP in the WFBH system helps as she know what to ask more than I do and understands aspects I don't. It's funny, we have an agreement that she handles medical (having a Master's degree in Nursing and licensed NP) and I handle all house/car maintenance (degree in Robotics and state licensed electrician). We compliment each other very well. She excited about the outcome as well. She's 8 years younger than me and her "drive" is still really high so we're looking forward to getting some miles on the implant. :D

I've kicked around the idea of posting a recovery diary here but havn't decided yet. There are many that have and I really appreciate all they've wrote and the insight they've provided into the recovery aspect but I'm not sure if the same basic info needs to be rehashed or if it will be beneficial. I'm sure I'll give some updates but now sure how often. What's the general consensus with everyone here on that? I don't want to wear out my welcome but want to help others all I can in their decision making process. I will report on my experience with Dr. T. and so far it's been great. Well enough rambling for now.

Hi Lunatech,
Congratulations on deciding on implant. Welcome to the brotherhood!
Your mentioned that your wife is "100% behind you..." and that she "is excited about the outcome also...." is great to hear. and very encouraging! I surprised my wife when I started using Trimix, and again when I looked for an implant. But now 3 1/2 months after implant she told me she is glad I had it.. That was music to my ears. She saw the frustration I had when trying to adjust the doses and then the failure. And we are older too. (75, 70 years old)

I also like to give periotic updates. My wife seems ambivalent about my progress through the stages of ED.
Today she did mention how I hated it when she would say "I don't think it'll work".

That was a downer even when it did work.
I told her it won't happen anymore.

Wyoman, yeah she's been with me through my entire ED journey (married going on 23 years). It was tough for her and I both in the beginning. Thought it was all in my head and she thought I didn't find her attractive anymore (which isn't true as she's a hottie). I finally convinced her I was crazy attracted to her (again she's a hottie and works hard keeping in shape) and the problem was with me. She was amazed when I actually tried the shots as she didn't think I'd take a shot in my junk and she just sat there dropped jawed when I told her I was wanting to look into an implant as nothing else was/has worked. You can read about my ED journey here : https://www.franktalk.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=11827

GruffHunter, I've been keeping up with your pre and post op journey though your posts here. They've been a great help. I'll start a new thread as time gets closer. Right now just excited and (finally) nervous. By finally nervous I mean I wasn't 100% sure it was all going to come together until today and now that it is, well that makes it real.

Congrats Luna!

Looking forward to reading your updates when you feel up to blogging. Days 3-5 were the hardest for me post-op. Stretch out those pain killers if you can to get over hump.

Good luck tomorrow!
