Injections versus pump

Postby Lonehill » Fri Mar 01, 2019 8:01 pm

I've been doing trimix for several months and it really hasn't worked well, despite changing formula and dosage. I'm currently using 80MCG prostaglandib,2mg phentolamine and 30mg papaverine. I'm using .4 ml.
The best I get is a semi rigid erection which is barely good enough for penetration but sometimes not even good enough for that and sometimes I go soft during intercourse. Over the last couple of months my wife and I have just been doing handjobs and fingering to avoid more frustation.
I.miss intercourse and thinking about either further changes to ratios, increased dosage or trying a quadmix or simply moving on to trying a pump.
I want to exhaust everything else before I consider an implant.
Any advice on either changing the injections or moving on to a pump?

Thanks for any help. I'm Sooooo frustrated!!!

I actually tried a pump before trying injections. The draw backs are the pumping up process is a bit awkward moodwise, you've got a time limit in that the constriction ring cuts off circulation ~30-40 mins, it can get uncomfortable up to that point and you get a cold, discolored dick while constricted. On the plus side you can have an on demand rock hard boner. Should you go this route get a medical grade pump to play it safe. Injections aren't working for me either so the pump is still my friend. ;)

Thanks Alfa88.
I might just try a pump to satisfy my curiosity. One problem with the injections is that I was going to an urologist about 40 miles away but he retired and now the closest is about 70 miles or about 180 miles if I want to see someone who has a specialty in ED. My be worth skipping the doctors for now and trying a pump.

What pump are you usin?. I've heard several people mention the Encore Standard manual vacuum. The price seems reasonable (around $90)and if it works I can move up to a more expensive one with a guage, etc.

Any thoughts or recommendations?

Actually that's the one I have and used for many years. Since it is medical grade it is supposedly designed not to have excessive vacuum that could be detrimental. One thing I learned on FT is that there is a sleeve available that makes the constriction ring much more comfortable. Without it you can end up a bit sore. http://uandmetime.com/products/store/#e ... ct=4958534
In addition, once you find the most suitable constriction ring size you may find that you may need 2 for maximum results :)

I have the one with both standard and electric pumps. Cost around $125. The $35 is worth the extra security knowing I have a back-up plan in case the manual breaks. I use the manual 99% of the time.
Married 50+ years. Use VED for sex and do
daily exercises with both water and vacuum pumps.

Thanks ! I've gone ahead and ordered the Encore. Found it on sale for $85 including shipping at
https://www.vitalitymedical.com/encore- ... p-otc.html
Looking forward to giving it a try. Haven't given up on trying some variation on injections, mainly want to try a quadmix since trimix hasn't worked well. Will have to go through hassle of finding another urologist 70 miles away and he'll have to get the records from my previous urologist who retired. Sure wish I could just order the damn quadmix myself and save a boat load of trouble.

If you know what you want you can try getting your regular GP to write your script. That's what I do. Obviously not every GP will do that but I don't see a down side to asking.

It would be great to find an online doctor so I wouldn't have to travel hours. When I was taking sidenafil I got it cheap overseas and their online "doctor" approved it.
My previous urologist acknowledged that he didn't know much about trimix formulas/doses so I told him what I wanted and he prescribed it.
My GP would probably be okay with a refill script but not going from a trimix to a quad mix.

If anyone knows of an online doctor please let me know so I can save spending hours in a car and waiting weeks to see an urologist who doesn't know squat about injections.

Yes I'd like to know too of an on-line doc who would prescribe Trimix. I don't have the distance problem but the cost problem. I've been to other UROs who will not prescribe Trimix, I think mostly out of ignorance. The URO who prescribes my Trimix is ripping me and all of his other patients off, by only allowing us to get the Trimix through him...and he charges big time for it. I've questioned him and his assistant on it several times, but they just answer that it's their policy to have the medication delivered directly to their office for pt pick-up to insure the quality of the medicine..( BS really).I have had it delivered to my home after having a recent appt. with him but he still charges the same. I would prefer a prescription so I could shop around for the best price...It always amazes me how ignorant most URO Docs are concerning ED and the accepted treatments.
