Implant day is coming the day after tomorrow, and I appreciate all the journals, tips, and encouragement from you all over the past few months.

As I think about coming home from the hospital, might you offer a list of recommended items to have at home as I recover? I have the frozen peas! That's about it, however.

Thanks!

In in my hospital room. Lots of pain post op. Pain meds just taking the edge off. Doc said everything went as planned. Due to re-shuffling of my intestines following my prostate removal 3 years ago, they had to put the resovoir through a separate incision.

I appreciate my bionic brothers!

Best wishes and good luck. Just got done with my hibiclens shower for tonight. One more time in the morning then off to hospital for 1.30 surgery. Titan will be in by this time tomorrow. I am also staying overnight and also will have a small abdominal incision to help place reservoir. I had extensive stomach surgery years ago and nothing is where it should be. Doc does not want place it blind from the scrotum. Am nervous about that incision.

Nervous as hell but will be glad to get something going and stopping traction and the ved. Hope my doc knows his shit. Either way this journey starts tomorrow. Well continues. Been on this road for 2.5 years, I am just hoping for a light at end of tunnel.

Made it through the night ok, thankful for the meds. Removing the catheter wasn’t the most pleasant experience! My surgeon said the latest research shows no benefit for full inflation following surgery, so they deflated me to 30%. Squeezing my poor, bruised twig and bag ‘o nuts was the worst part of recovery. Thankfully I asked the nurse for a bit of morphine before that happened. Because I also had a modified Nesbit procedure for Peyronies, my little guy looks and feels awful.

As soon as I urinate they’ll let me go home.

So it’s been a better experience than I had anticipated. Then again, I’ve been on narcotics LOl.

TheProfessor,
Same as you, I had second incision just below my navel for reservoir placement. My doc promised to try to place it in Space of Retzius if possible and he did try but because of RP he was not able to place my reservoir into most common place. He made incision half way between my umbilicus and penis base. Reservoir was placed on right side slightly below umbilicus level. Since the second incision is right on belt line it took longer to heal completely. Now, I have ugly scar above my speedos.

MK, I'm trying to visualize your reservoir installation.
Does that mean the tubing was able to go toward the outside of your body and not go through the usual place?

That's what caused me the most discomfort like I would imagine a hernia would feel like.
Other than needing a second incision, it sounds like a nice placement and installation.

My secondary incision is on my waistline to the left of my belly button. My doc said that after looking at a CT scan of my bowel, the fear was perforating it if they didn’t put it where they did. Not the best location for healing.

Day 3 post op and I’m doing ok. Pain seems to worse today than previously, but from what I’ve read, that’s expected. I’ll feel a lot better when my bowels start moving. I don’t know how many more stool softeners I can take! LOL

It’s difficult to find a comfortable sitting or lying position, but I really can’t complain. So far, my recovery has been easier than I expected.

Thanks for the encouragement. It seems like each day something new decides to take its turn hurting. This morning it’s the snake eyes on my glans. I had some slight bleeding overnight, but not enough for me to be alarmed.

Honestly, I need my bowels to start working again. I’ve taken everything from prescribed laxatives to Metamusil to my wife’s magnesium supplements. Nothing is working. I’ve limited my use of the prescribed pain pills, as well.

I know I need to be patient. I’m not used to sitting around. It’s been three days since I’ve been home from the hospital and I’m already getting frustrated.

At least college basketball is still going on!
