AMS700 Pump Issue

Postby brad100 » Wed Apr 17, 2019 3:14 am

Hey everybody,

This site has been a blessing for someone going through and recovering from an implant, so thanks to all. I was implanted on February 7 and have been cycling for three weeks. I haven't read anyone who has the same issue as I do.
My issue is when I squeeze the pump for inflation I don't hear a 'pop' sound, I hear what seems to be a 'whoosh' sound. After this first pump/whoosh sound, my penis does get hard but it won't let me fully depress the pump any further, no matter how hard I press it, so I am not sure if I can get it any harder. I try smaller pumps but nothing happens - it maintains the same hardness. Why does it only allow me one full pump?
Deflation seems to work ok and there is an audible 'click' upon deflation. I contacted my surgeon and I am seeing him next week, but I am stressing out that I have a pump problem and the next 7 days are going to be tough. Has anybody had THIS problem? I am from Australia.

Brad if that 'whoosh' sound is the same/similar to the sound it makes when you deflate from pumped then it's the valve not fully switching to inflate (I've heard that sound before). I was implanted on 2/28, cleared to pump on 4/12, had problems with my pump right from the start and am scheduled for replacement/repair of the pump on 4/29. You can read the thread here AMS pump secrets?. I've also quoted Larry below from that thread with Jamie from AMS contact info. She probably can get you fixed up over the phone. Hope this helps brother.

Larry10625 wrote: I would suggest that you call Jamie. She has been working in men's sexual medicine for 24 years now and knows the implant better than anyone else I know. A couple of times she has trouble shooted for me on the phone and has ALWAYS got me a successful result. Here is Jamie's contact info.

**EDIT**
It finally just clicked that you stated you are from Australia so calling the US might not be your best option. Ask you surgeon if there is a AMS rep/nurse you can call in the area. I know Jamie can help but the time difference might present a problem (you're around 16hrs ahead of her I'm thinking). Also here is the Australia Boston Scientific contact info:

Thanks for your reply Lunatech. I am going to try some of the remedies suggested in your thread which will hopefully work. If not, I will just have to wait until I see the surgeon. We might be in the same boat and a revision absolutely terrifies me!

Brad;
Get into a tub of water a hot as you can stand it. Sit in there for about 10 minutes. The hot water makes the rubber pump softer. Now, while still in the tub, try to cycle. Make your first pump a hard quick one... you should feel the click. You are probably thinking that if that works, from now on, every time you want sex you have to have a hot bath... no, you need to do this three or four times (anytime, not just before sex), the pump will soften up and be easier to handle. The other thing that works is an electric heating pad. It doesn't work as well as the bath but does work. If this doesn't work, call Jamie. Good luck, let us know if it works. :)

Brad ,
Your problem sounds similar to what I had for months. My pump locked up every time. Try squeezing from the middle. Is your pump high or deep and low in your scrotum?

I guess I have a "stealth" pump. I get no clicks or whooshes when inflate or deflate is activated.
When inflating, I get one nice full pump that shows it's in inflate mode.
None of the rest of the pumps are full but it does inflate fully.
When I go to deflate mode and push the button, I just get a small vibration that shows it actuated.

Yep, that's exactly what happens with me, although I do feel a small whoosh as if all the liquid moves at once from the pump. I pump it once and it gets hard, but it won't let me pump any further so I don't know how much harder it will get. People talk about a 'pop' which I don't get. I am sure if the small pumps after the initial one make any difference. I guess I will know when I see my surgeon. In all the literature they give you, why don't they mention the actual sound it should make? You only seem to get intricate details on here

Several times I had to squeeze the ends of the pump block to reset it. 1 Squeezze does little as far as inflating my dick. It take 15 to get any hardness at all.

To reset the pump, should I squeeze the ends of the pump block and then the deflate button, or just the block?

My pump is high on the right side and sticks out. I am wondering if it will ever drop...
