Implant failure
Implant failure
My Implant failed last evening after a successful session with my wife. It would not inflate afterwards. I have an appointment this week with my urologist.

Re: Implant failure
My guess it's the pump. Nothing complicated in the cylinders. IMHO, it should be easy going. Best of luck.

Re: Implant failure
With any luck it is a stuck valve.
When you attempt to pump up, does it feel normal? That is, squeeze against resistance once or twice and get a sudden collapse of the pump bulb (often described as a "pop" or "giving")? followed by easy compressions that get gradually more resistant?
If abnormal, what are the differences?
The AMS Patient Liaison may be able to help just over the phone. This is one of the things they are there for.

My second one is 2 cm larger and works great. Still a pain to have to go through all that again. God speed my friend.

Re: Implant failure
ocitgo: sucks that it failed so soon. Hopefully this one will last years! Did your doctor mention the possibility of you having a bigger implant on the revision?
Re: Implant failure
I am almost positive it is the MS pump even though my surgeon told me it was not the pump, but could not give me a reason why the bulb on the pump would stay collapsed. That revision only lasted, I believe it was twenty months. I went into surgery thinking they were just going to change out the pump, but turned out he also changed the reservoir, redirected one of the one cylinder and pulled them both about half an inch into the gland, changed the rte's. But over all I am impressed how fast I recovered from this third revision. After twenty some days, the incision was all healed up and the doctor gave me the green light to used it. I was shocked when he said that since I had not even cycled after the surgery. I still did not have any sex for a couple of more weeks, wanted to make sure everything was ready. There was still some sensitive area's. But now I feel completely bionic, with full length and bigger girth. So I am sure you will recover faster on the revision, and if they just change the pump, recover should be a matter of the incision healing. Probably about three to four weeks. Good luck!
