Dr. Eid wrote to me once that examination of the condition of the tunica would have a governing influence on choice of the implant as well. A too-thin, weakened or otherwise compromised tunica (hopefully already revealed -I THINK- by an external examination) might dictate use of one or the other maker's product. If that revelation occurred only after the operation had begun and the patient unable to make informed choices, the surgeon would proceed with a choice in the patient's best interest. This is why (as you indicate you will do) FULLY discussing desires, options and choices is important. Kudos to you for your preparatory work.
