International health Insurance anyone?

I was suggested to get a International Health Insurance before surgery.
I´m from Sweden and Dr Eid suggested me to have one incase of anything goes wrong.
He said it have never happened before but just incase.

I haven´t found any type of insurance that will help me with this kind of matter.
Anyone? what do you know about this?

Not first hand experience, but close. We knew some Canadians that would buy some kind of health policy for when they would stay at a winter home in Las Vegas. As I remember it was for one month at a time. So scheduling your surgery for early in the month might be wise. Perhaps a little expensive, I think around $800 usd per month. This was 3-5 years ago. The couple were in their late 70's, maybe very early 80's at the time. No knowledge about the level of coverage, what it covered or if it had any deductables.
I would suggest contacting an insurance agent in your native country. Perhaps your embassy department might have information on their web site. Good luck.

Yes, what he wants you to get is a policy that covers accidents & injuries suffered while in the US. It also covers the cost of medical transport back to Sweden if that became necessary. I've had policies like this when I travel abroad for scuba diving or other vacation activities. These policies are usually inexpensive ($200/yr) and are secondary to any other insurance you already have. They have nothing to do with implants or with his surgery. Sorry I don't have a specific company to recommend, but a travel agent in your country should be able to help you.

wow, I guess that everything will be ok, and you have nothing to worry about, because personally, I will have surgery too at 28 July, but I wasn't warn that something may go wrong... You know, I had ED for about 3 years and only now, after a car accident I might allow to pay for surgery, because I'm a taxi driver and 2 years ago I purchased a taxi insurance from this site total-insurance.co.uk and recently I got into an accident, so my insurance company payd me compensations for that accident, so I had enough money to pay for surgery...

I have bought it before. It is a travel type of policy. It covered accidents or getting sick while traveling.

Not sure if it would cover complications from a surgery you scheduled and had done while in the other country. Had a friend go to another country for dental implants cause they were cheaper. Had some type of issue and got back to states as soon as possible. Not sure if a travel policy would have helped him since he went there to get the dental implants and had complications from it.

There are a few options you can use, you just have to be sure what you want from your coverage. I have a very good medical insurer but that's just because I am working closely with the medical field and the company gets some sort of health insurance benefits for employees from the medical provider. We have some really nice perks like dental and a wider range of labs and exams that are covered by the medical insurance. I am kind of sad that I am not sick more often (lol just kidding) but sometimes it's good to know that in case of an emergency we are covered.

I think the idea of international health insurance is to sort of cover you if you have complications and end up in the hospital in the USA. Sounds like a good idea. I do worry that they might have exclusions clause, but you at least would have a fighting chance.

The way this works is , of course, as follows:
1) you come to USA from another country and pay the surgeon and hospital the agreed upon fee for the penile implant. If all goes well, you go home and you do not incur any added expense, so in that case the insurance that you bought goes un-tapped and un-used.

or
2) you come to the USA from another country and pay the surgeon and hospital the agreed upon fee for the implant BUT you have a complication during or after surgery (for example a heart attack or an infection that lands you in the hospital). The international health insurance, hopefully will cover you for the hospital days in which your infection or heart attack were managed.

So, yes, it is probably a good idea to have that insurance. Of course, it will never pay for the elective implant surgery, but it could help you to pay for hospital costs to manage complications.

PS: regarding the method to purchase international insurance: This will depend on the specifics of your home country and home insurance plan. You need to ask a representative from you local home insurance plan the following question: "I am travelling to USA on a certain date, if I end up in the hospital because of a heart attack or pneumonia or accident, can I buy some extra insurance so that I am covered ???"
