Before my RP my wife always told me she loved my smell. Since my surgery she says my smell is gone and she misses it. I was just curious if anyone else has had this same experience?

buckster,
Yup ... same here ... it seems to be another one of those undocumented side effects of prostrate removal that affects some of us, but not all?

Surely that couldn't be it because I have my annual bath as regular as clockwork every Christmas.antelope wrote:Maybe taking a shower at the hospital made the difference....ha ha ha
Seriously, I have to wonder if the prostate or the seminal vesicle produces some sort of scent. My wife mentioned the lack of this scent just a few weeks after my surgery.

Who knows? One of the side of effects of my heart surgery was that my sense of smell went into overtime. Not only do I have the sniffer of a coyote, certain smells are repulsive. For example, I love citrus; can't abide most perfumes and sweet air fresheners. Asparagus almost makes me puke. My heart surgeon assured me that the two were not related, but I the timing was undeniable. And it hasn't abated in the years since.
