28 yo, impotent, need advice

Postby dalmatian » Thu Sep 05, 2019 3:42 pm

Hello everyone. Please read my story. I'll try to be brief.

I'm male, 28 years old and I've been coping with the impotence ever since I took trazodone and it most like can't be reversed to previous level. Trazodone is an atypical antidepressant which is nowadays usually prescribed for insomnia due to it's sedating effects. Over the course of few months since withdrawal of the pills I partially recovered libido and some other symptoms have resolved such as inability to ejaculate, but I still have ED which is sometimes severe and sometimes moderate in severity. On most of the days I can get full erection but it requires a lot of manual stimulation (up to 3-4 minutes to get fully hard) in addition to visual stimuli and it's very hard to maintain erection without constant stimulation - after 20 seconds or so it begins to weaken. I rarely get nocturnal erections.

Now, I'm gonna wait for a year or two to see whether erections will improve naturally over time, but in the case this remains permanent, would you recommend me penile implant as a last solution? Of course, I'm gonna try pills first, but many people who got SD due to antidepressant use report that pills don't help them so I don't hope much. I'm lucky that I preserved sensitivity and orgasm, and my libido at least partially recovered, so my problems only revolve around the lack of erections. Is implant good solution for someone like me? Does sex feel same with it?

Thank you very much

I was and am on anti-depressant medication and different ones due to my military service and yes some caused more sexual problems than others. I started on them when I was about 26.

I too took Trazodone mostly for sleep and found that I just couldn't cum.

I was on pills (Viagra, and Levitra the VA doesn't how hasn't for me used Cialis) for a long time. About 3 years ago I started on the Injections. I'm 57 now so before you go to implant discuss options with your doctor as a friend told me here on this site a natural or drug induced hard on is better than implant.

Who knows maybe they will have better treatment options available for you by the time you reach my age

Iagree you should explore all options. Injections may work very well for you. See injection section of franktalk. Be sure to work closely with your urologist as there can be issues with use. You'll know when to think implant. This community will be a great help to you

Thanks. Did your symptoms reverse after you quit trazodone?

See a good urologist that is experienced treating ED. Follow their advice.

Usually that will mean starting with pills. If that doesn’t work injections of bimix or trimix. If that doesn’t work, an implant.

But start with a good urologist and see where it goes.

Lots of good info and support here.

I just got an implant at 28 years old. I tried pills and injections first, my ED was probably more severe than what you are describing as it was a physical injury that no other surgery could reliably fix. Try pills first, give it a shot. Injections at your age are not much of an option in my personal opinion. They usually work but due to the non spontaneity of them and the general culture for dating we live in our age they are not an ideal solution. Already have a gf and the sex is pretty awesome with an implant. If you have questions or want to know more about my situation or dating experience just pm me. Good luck to ya

Honestly, I don't like the idea of injections... not because I don't like needles, but the fact it often causes priapism which I'm very afraid of as it can make permanent damage which cannot be fixed not even by an implant. Is this a real concern?

Peyronies disease was one thing that severely affected me. One cause is trauma to the penis. There are a lot of stories on here of individuals who felt that sticking needles into their penis caused peyronies to develop.

If you have a venous leak and take viagra or cialis and have sex with a rapidly softening dick, you also take a chance for damaging your dick irreparably.

I firmly believe in seeing enough docs until you feel comfortable with your diagnosis and they answer your questions adequately.

I think putting off an implant while waiting on what might happen in developing technology is one option. Not a good one in my opinion.

If you are 30 and cannot get hard enough for sex, or worry about how long you will stay up, or any other number of reasons why you do not get hard enough for penetrative sex, an implant is a good option. If I was waiting on options I will hope implants get better like they continuously have over the past 20 years.

If you want to inject to get an erection and it works for you that is great. I would just be very aware of my dick. If you feel a lump of any kind forming in an injection site get to a urologist to see if it is peyronies. If it is you have a big problem and now have another whole new set of problems. Definitely look for a curve starting. The plaque due to peyronies causes a loss of elasticity. Which will cause shortening.

One sure way to fix it is an implant, probably a titan would be best. If no peyronies you have both ams or titan options unless you are over 7 inches or so when a titan does a better job on larger dicks.

My only regret about my implant is not getting it done 3 years ago when ed started. No peyronies and I would have kept all 7 of my inches, and not spent 3 miserable fin years dealing with all the crap associated with it.

Do your research, get comfortable with options, if an implant. Choose a good doc and just do it as the saying goes.
18 cm plus 1 rte titan installed March 2019. Revision March 2020 by Dr. Andrew Todd, Richmond KY. He replaced the titan with an AMS 700 LGX 18 cm cylinder plus 2 rte for 20 cm total length.

That is a very rare occurrence and most often is caused by over injecting or using pills in addition to injecting. I used Trimix injections for over 12 years and never had a problem. My hard erection would last about 2 hours, and then I would have a soft semi for another hour. One plus of the injections is that they will increase your girth. Over that 12 year period I went from 5.5" to 6.5+" in girth. I did loose that extra girth with my implant but it was nice while it lasted. I say go for it, you will be happy you did.
