Hi all,
I've enjoyed so many of the post over the past couple years... The one subject that's gotten little attention is reservoir placement! I plan on getting an implant early next year! Over the past 25 years I've had 4 hernia surgeries, 3 were abdominal and one lower! I have a real concern that with the amount of mesh used plus having a halop done for my prostate, I'm going to have a major problem finding the right spot for the reservoir! As always, I'm looking for some feedback from our friends on FT!

Re: Reservoir placement!
Have your urologist check out the location of the resivoir. He can advise you on this. from the sounds of it there may be a limited option. Your urologist can tell you for certain.
Wish you the best of luck..

Re: Reservoir placement!
From what I understand, the reservoir is placed in a natural void in the pelvis. Right in front of your hip bone, either on the right or left side of your dick. Mine is on the left side and the only reason I know this is because I can feel the tubes leading up to the spot. I cannot feel the reservoir at all. Don't even know it's there.
Suffered with ED for most of my life. Viagra then to Trimix then implanted 3/8/2018 with AMX 700 CX 21cm with 1cm RTE. 50 years old Urolift procedure performed 30 day prior to my implant surgery.

Re: Reservoir placement!
I had the same issue...previous hernia surgeries. And in addition I'm fit so I have a flat tummy. The doc told me he had difficulty placing it. It on my upper right side. He could not get to the "void" they usually use because of the surgeries. The doc said he can feel it when he pushes there. Thee's a bit of a bulge right now (I'm 5 weeks out) but Kramer is hopeful that its swelling and it will go down. The area is still a bit sore.
From my understanding, if you have any padding in your tummy...they can hide it in there.
I hope that's helpful

Re: Reservoir placement!
Interesting, that's a concern of mine, I had a RALP earlier this year & I was wondering where it was going to go. I am 138#'s & 5'6". so I'm not a big guy & just wondered If it would go in my abdomen & would it show & how was it going to be put there via an additional incision? Any guys had similar issues or concerns & work arounds?
Thanks
Junior

Re: Reservoir placement!
I had RP in 11/2016 and when I was implanted 9/2018, my surgeon was not able to place reservoir in usual place, space of Retzius, because of severe scar tissue after Robotic surgery. My reservoir was placed in my abdominal wall slightly right and slightly down from umbilicus. I ended up with additional incision half way between umbilicus and penile base which is on belt line.
Your hernia repairs might pose problems for reservoir placement especially that most hernias are repaired with mesh. Surgeon will be able to find alternate space for reservoir.
