The papers say the infection rate of revision surgery is 5-10%.
It seems too high... virgin surgery's infetion rate is only 1%(or less than)
Why is it dramatically high when revision surgery is done?
Does that statistics apply to a skilled doctor who do more than 100 cases a year?
I really hope that experienced doctors do not have such high infection rate of revision..
Does a skilled doctor's revision surgery also have a 5-10% infection rate?

Personally, without scientific proof for that, would argue so.
Top docs for a virgin implant have around 1-2 % infection rate, where as industrial average is 3-5 %. Meaning it is almost 3 times higher. Thus one could say with higher skilled surgeon the average risk for a revision could be anywhere between 2 to 5%.
On the other hand are revisions usually done by more skilled surgeons which might already include that the majority of the performing surgeons is more experience/crafted.
