What is the science behind position dependent erectile dysfunction

I had the same issue beginning at age 30. I had always been able to get hard easily and stay hard a long time. Suddenly if I got out of bed with a hard dick, it was soft in seconds. When my wife got it hard for sex, I rolled over and lost it soon. As time went on my penis was more difficult to get hard, even on my back. I had to barely move to get hard and stay hard.

My issue was a Venous Leak. I finally got an implant a little over two years ago after nine if the pills, injections, etc. worked. We are all different so you may find the help you need some other way, but that is my story.

Were you diagnosed with a venous leak when you layed on your back? Or was the test done while standing?

My test was done while laying and no leak observed; however i couldn't get erection while standing. Ps: This was Sidenafil Doppler, not Injection like Trimix

I too will get an erection while in bed but as soon as I sit up or stand up it’s like letting air out of my tire! I long for the day that I will have erection so hard my wife will scream when I thrust. I’m my younger years it use to be that way. Bu5 as I gotten older they have certainly changed. I ride a bike religiously seven days a week 15 miles a day. One would think that would make for a rock hard cock.

The technician said it would take several minutes for the injection to work so I could sit, stand, or lay on the table until he started. I sat down. I never achieved a good erection. I always wondered if I had decided to lay down if I would have gotten hard, but I was so grateful to finally have the confirmation there was a physical issue after years of doctors telling me it was in my head.

However my question is: Was your doppler test (which confirmed the leak) done will standing, sitting or laying on your back?

I don't think position is given anywhere near the blame it ought to receive.

The first time I had the Doppler/dye/ dick X-ray study they saw a minor amount of leakage with me flat on my back during the study but the urologist doing the testing thought it was too small to be causing the ED I (and to her credit, my wife) reported. This was 30 yrs ago.

Subsequent evaluation with me standing or on my knees demonstrated that it was a minor miracle I got any erection at all.

To the original poster: yeah,you can manage VL in many cases with pills, shots, and don't overlook the faithful cock ring. The leather strap type that encircled both dick and balls with snaps worked best for me. It helps to stay fit, eat a good diet, watch your weight.....give your cardiovascular system all the help you can.

Eventually the current remedies don't help as much but who knows what they'll do in medicine over next 30 yeas?

So the initial test done while lying on your back, the leakage was abnormal? (There is always a leakage/end diastolic flow) but this should not exceed 5cm/sec. So do you mean you had an excess leakage greater than a miximum limit of 5cm/sec?

Sorry for my lack of clarity. The tech said I could stay upright or sit during the waiting time until he actually started the test. When he was ready I laid back on the table where the test was done.

Thanks. I did my test while laying and for the second time test says no venous leak. Infact this time there was reversal of diastolic flow, meaning the veins work perfectly. However i still cannot get erections while standing and I am now beginning to think this might be caused my my hard flaccid penis/ pelvic floor dysfunction

The last tests I’ve had done like that were in 1999-2000 time frame

Prior to that the original tests were performed in 1989.

If they told me the numbers, I’ve forgotten them and used my brain storage to remember anniversary and wife’s birthday.

Bottom line: first time tested I looked normal flat on back, but couldn’t begin to maintain an erection in any other position. The testing ten years later confirmed that, only the ability to achieve an wrection in back was not as good. Then again, I was 44 years old instead of 33.
