Decision Time, Coloplast or AMS

Postby midwest guy » Wed Feb 05, 2020 7:29 pm

Surgery for implant has been set for 3/31/20 and I'm ready to get 'er done. Had consultation a week ago, and went over types of implants, surgery and recovery explained. Did stretch test and explained what I could expect post implant. Tons of information to absorb, so he told me to go home, think it over, and discuss with wife, who was with me during consultation.

Wife is fully on board with me getting implant, so called a few days later to make appointment for surgery. Yesterday I got to thinking about it and realized we had not discussed which implant I would be receiving , or we did discuss it and both wife and I forgot. So sent him message yesterday asking which implant he would be using and that I was leaning towards AMS, but was comfortable for which ever one he thought would work best for me. Responded today stating that he thought both Coloplast and AMS were excellent and that if I preferred AMS he would go with that.

During consultation he did say with my age, ED history, and anatomy that unless something unusual showed up during surgery that either Titan or LGX would be fine. So now I'm trying to make a decision and wondering what would be best for me,,,or just let him decide. I realize most of you will probably lean toward the one you have,,but any input would be appreciated.

Had a titan put in last March. I was happy with it. I am looking at a revision and they are probably going with the lgx.

I will have to see what the difference is between the two.
18 cm plus 1 rte titan installed March 2019. Revision March 2020 by Dr. Andrew Todd, Richmond KY. He replaced the titan with an AMS 700 LGX 18 cm cylinder plus 2 rte for 20 cm total length.

It is a tough decision without knowing what any implant would feel like or work.
I had the same kind of questions in my post.
Best of Luck to you.

To both @midwest guy and @LookingUp, I would recommend checking the "SHOW AND TELL" thread to see if someone in your areas is available to let you see and learn more about their implants, firsthand. Absent of someone locally who has offered Show and Tell, check with some of the doctors you are considering and ask if they have a list of patients who are willing to do a show & tell or at least talk with you personally to answer your questions.

Hell, the vast majority of the guys here would be willing to talk to you via a phone call if you PM them to get their contact info. One doesn't have to be local to you to be willing to chat.

AMS should be more natural feeling in all situations, folds/dog ears issues more common with Titan it seems

I had the coloplast Genesis installed 10/4/19
Dr. Brady or Orlando gave me a 24cm with a 1cm RTE. He stated that the Titan gives back more girth and comes in larger sizes.
He also liked the Genesis for less issues and failures.
How do I like it? Fantastic! Wish I did this 10 years ago.
I'm still in the healing stage (4 months) and cycling daily( at least once and most days twice)
I pump just before showering and when the hot water relaxes me I give it several more pumps to get 100%.
I maintain that hardness throughout my shower and then shave afterwards before deflating.
so far I am at 6 3/4" length and 5.3/4" girth, hoping for a little more as time goes by.
As I only have the one type I guess I'm not impartial.
From what I have deduced, if you have a larger ock go with the coloplast otherwise you can go
with the AMS which has a better deflated look.
I personally am not hung(NO pun intended) up with my deflated look as much as my inflated look!
My wife like it better this way also! lol

My wife and I are both thrilled with my AMS700LGX. I think you will find guys here who will swear by both brands so I am not sure you can make a bad choice. My wife was always totally happy with my thickness so I did not need to go with a Titan for that reason. A big consideration for me was how it would look flaccid because I pose nude for artists and am in the gym locker room most days of the week.

Titan is a better choice for guys with large penises (7”+) but otherwise both are good. Titan promotes getting harder but my AMS gets so hard my wife asked me to not pump it up all the way and we both ended up more comfortable with it pumped to about 75%.
I am 64 and had ED from a VL. Implanted by Dr. Ronald Anglade in Atlanta on 9/18/17. I have an AMS700LGX 21 cm via a Penoscrotal incision. Very happy with results. 6" soft and 6 3/4” x 5 5/8” hard.

In my opinion the only big difference between the 2 is flaccid rigidity. The Titan remains somewhat stiffer when deflated. Your stretch was 6 inches so expect your flaccid to be about 5.5 inches. That's a pretty big bulge in your britches. I have an LGX and at 18 months stick out 6 inches deflated. But if I squeeze out every drop it hangs down naturally for awhile. More than enough time to dress at the gym. At church I need to head for the restroom and readjust at least once.
If that's not a problem it's dealers choice. Good luck you and your wife will both be delighted either way.

Well, the Titan is a bit more rigid because the cylinders are a bit thicker than the AMS.
So much information on here, I read that if you are over 7", go for the Titan. But what if you are a grower, not a shower?

My Doc told me that either would work. After giving it a lot of thought and doing my research, I selected the AMS and my Doc concurred. Flaccid appearance, rigidity, and the MS pump were the deciding factors. At 76 years of age I’m not out to impress anyone other than my wife and I believe the AMS has a more natural look and feel. Best of luck to you.
