colonoscopy & implant

Postby pal123 » Sun Feb 09, 2020 10:48 am

Folks,

Just wondering if there are any issues with having a colonoscopy when having an implant ?

Do you have to tell the colonoscopy doctor that you have an implant ? would they be able to see it ?

Dont want to share too much information if i dont have to.

thanks,
Pal

Yes make sure he knows you have it. So he can stay away from tubing and any implant parts are not mistaken for something else.

I'm not a doctor but I don't see how it would cause any problems. The doctor my notice but you would hope he will be paying more attention to the pipe he is shoving up your asshole.

I had colonoscopy last August and I told GI doc about prostate Ca and IPP.
He responded with “no problem at all, it is just good to know”.

When my (long-time) Dentist asked about recent surgeries, I said I had an implant.

He was puzzled until I told him what kind of implant (not a tooth)!

On admission to a facility they will ask if you have had any surgeries and or implanted devices. Screws, plates etc. My health system I work for asks about ones sex life. So they ask about everything else.
