Also reduce post-partum bleeding, protect stomach lining from ulcers (used for people sensitive to non-steroidal anti-inflammatories), make insertion of IUDs easier and a number of other uses. Erectile function is not listed among them.
There is real danger of birth defects when using misoprostol as an abortifacient. It is not very effective, but where abortions are outlawed, a black market thrives.
However, if it does help with E.D. it might be due to the same mechanism that reduces post-partum bleeding. That is, constricting veins, which might help with venous leakage. This is a pretty wild speculation on my part, though. It would be interesting to hear from the one guy who the O.P. named. But I am not holding my breath. Especially since it is too late for this to help me, even if it did work. Having an implant pretty much preempts any other solutions.

I think this is coming from a study the evaluated the effects of this drug compared to Caverject. The study found that misoprostol relaxed muscles in penile tissue more effectively than caverject.
However this experiment was done on tissue in a lab from the tissue taken from men who were undergoing a penile implant. So to my knowledge, no test has been done to study this drugs effects on erections in live men or animals.
Sounds promising though. I’m willing to try it.

Sure about the spelling? A search turned up this: Misoprostol, sold under the brandname Cytotec among others, is a medication used to prevent and treat stomach ulcers, start labor, cause an abortion, and treat postpartum bleeding due to poor contraction of the uterus.Wikipedia?

My research finds that Misoprostol (generic) is named Cytotec (brand) made by Pfizer. It a synthetic prostaglandin E1 agonist. It is available in 100 and 200 mcg tabs.
Apparently, Muse suppositories contain this product. Muse comes in suppositories of 125, 250, 500, and 1000 mcg.
Using Cytotec would be significantly cheaper than Muse.
One would have to figure out how to dissolve the tabs (would DMSO work?) and use a plastic syringe to inject the appropriate amount into the urethra.
Any thoughts on this?

I don't think MUSE contains misoprostol, just alprostadil. They are similar drugs though. Alprostadil is PGE1 and misoprostol is a PGE1 "analogue."
Since they are similar, they would probably have to deliver them the same way (injection or suppositories) to induce usable erections. After all, I presume taking alprostadil by mouth doesn't really work and/or is possibly dangerous otherwise why inject in the first place.
