Why the difference?

Postby merrix » Fri Mar 06, 2020 2:57 am

There are currently at least two threads running here about the poor quality of the flaccid. Mostly those unhappy seems to have a Titan, but I may be wrong.

Every time I read horror stories about guys running around with a 4 o'clock "flaccid", I can't help thinking about the lack of reflection. It would be one thing if that happened to ALL men with a Titan. Then fine, that's just how it is. Titans suck. And I would complain too. I had a "flaccid" in the early weeks, even months, which I was far from happy with. However, my doc kept telling me it'd be fine with time, I think he said 3-4 months later it would be ok, and then very slowly keeping on improving from there as the Bioflex material absorbs fat and softens up.
So I was not complaining. I waited to see if he was correct. And he was.

I have posted plenty of pics of my dick in this thread, and here are three more, taken just now.
They show my flaccid in three different situations. Weareing swim shorts, wearing underwear (which I wear under the swim shorts in the first pic), and naked.
I think all can agree that in the naked pic, my flaccid hangs as bloody straight down as it possibly can. The only way anybody could see I was implanted would be if they had seem my flaccid dick before and can see the size difference. Otherwise not.
With underwear, I think it is obvious that I have a larger than average flaccid, but it does not in any way point out. It even bends like the letter "C" and points back under my scrotum, sort of between my balls.
With my swim shorts, nobody can see shit. Nothing unusual at least.

And my flaccid is about 15 cm (6") long bone pressed. Don't know the flaccid girth, but my inflated measures are 17.8 cm (7") long (bone pressed) and 14.4 cm (5.7") circumference. I don't think the girth is much smaller flaccid. That is not the biggest dick on the planet, but it is larger than most people complaining about their flaccid on this site.
I have a 24 cm Titan implant without any RTEs.

So to the reflection part. If I had a shitty flaccid, stiff and pointing straight out, I would think "Hmmm, that's strange. Why did I end up with this shit when evidently not everybody does?"
And then I would want to know why, and what, if anything, can be done about it.

If I buy a swimming pool, and have it installed in my garden by a pro, and my neighbour has the exact same pool installed, I would expect the same results. If my pool does not get as warm, I would reflect on why.
Either I just got a poor heater delivered and installed. Simply the odd one off the assembly line which slipped through quality control.
Or my contractor did a shitty job installing it.
Or the heater I got was not the right model for my pool in my garden. Maybe my neighbour's pool is in the sun all day, while mine is in the shade and hence I would have needed a more powerful heater.
Or, believe it or not, I would reflect whether I don't run my heater correclty. Have I got the settings right?

I would't just say that this pool system sucks, and recommend nobody to ever buy it. That would be stupid. Especially seeing my neighbour having a perfectly working system. That should tell me it is not the model itself that sucks, it is my particular item, the installer, or myself that suck.

Same thing with an implant. If Mr X has a shitty flaccid with his Titan when Mr Y has fantastic flaccid, then Mr X would be pretty stupid to say all Titans suck and you are doomed to get a shitty flaccid with it.
Either my unit, i.e. my valve, sucks and I just had the bad luck to get a faulty unit.
Or my doc did a shitty job during installation and post-surgery protocol instructions. Maybe he left me for too long with a semi-inflated implant and hence caused scar tissue forming around a less than full reservoir. Or maybe he just installed the wrong type of implant for my (small) size of penis. And maybe he didn't even test inflate/deflate the unit after installation, which would have had him detecting the faulty unit and replaced it while still on the surgery table.
Or - horrible thougth - maybe it is myself who is to blame. Maybe I did not follow the protocol, maybe I didn't deflated completely but rather slept with my implant inflated during the first few weeks, and I am to blame for the scar tissue around the reservoir. Maybe I simply don't deflate properly. Maybe my dick is so short that it would have stuck straight out with whatever the plastic is inside it. Etc, etc, etc.

Because facts are that people do get really good flaccids with large sized Titan cylinders as well. Why? What is the difference behind the different results?
Just a bit of reflection would be nice.

Hi Merrix,

I am in the final research stage and meeting with my doc next week. I have a question on math and length per your last post:
"And my flaccid is about 15 cm (6") long bone pressed. Don't know the flaccid girth, but my inflated measures are 17.8 cm (7") long (bone pressed) and 14.4 cm (5.7") circumference. I have a 24 cm Titan implant without any RTEs."

If your inflated size is 17.8cm and no RTEs, but you have a 24cm implant, where is the other 6.2cm (2.4 inches)?

I'm jumping in here to answer this and I'm sure merrix will probably too...

Answer: the rest of the implant length is inside the body, in the crus, or the proximal penis.

Merix,
I wish I can say, my flaccid freely hangs and looks at my shoes, but that is not a case. My flaccid and completely deflated sticks out at 4:30 and makes it prominent in my scrubs.
I know how to deflate properly and while deflated, my penis looks like being run over by bus tire.
I am not only one with this problem so it is not anecdotal. Many others are having same issues, but we all are implanted by different surgeons so issue is not a surgeon, not our own problem like different anatomy but its implant itself and it’s maker coloplast which is not good choice for people with less or equal to 6 inches of penis length.

Unless penis straightening or other factors are involved.

I don't bother asking my penis to hang down. I wear underwear that (while not truly a compression garment) keeps things "organized" down there. May I suggest that route?

Yes, as Waynetho already said, it is inside my body.
There is a simple rule of thumb saying that 1/3 of your total implant length (including any RTEs) will be inside your body and 2/3 will be in your dick.

And it is exactly this type of generalizing statement I am questioning.
So what you say then is that there is nobody on this planet with a dick shorter than 6 inches who has a nice hang on their Titan flaccid?
If there really is nobody, then I am prepared to say you are right.
But if there are people out there with 5.5 inch dicks, with Titans, with nice flaccids, then I say you are wrong.

Also, we have guys with AMS with poor flaccid angles as well. We have LS in this thread just above here saying he keeps his flaccid in control with tight underwear. Same thing there then, why do some AMS people say their flaccids are perfect and some say it isn't?

My point is just that I think there are other factors involved here. Not just the implant type and the size of the dick.

Merrix,
As always I applaud you for the service you provide by sharing your story with so many guys. One thing on this topic I am not sure anyone really thinks about is the tubing and connection point with the pump. We each have different situations. If there is a slight bit of excess tubing it may allow the flaccid to hang more naturally. If that connection is tight, is it possible that is holding the penis in a higher position than it had previously? And, if that is possible, combine it with what is probably now a longer flaccid and it is perfectly logical that it is more prominent than it was when smaller.

If we were too all look at photos of a bunch of dicks, we see some naturally stand out, while others hang. I just think when we get implants it is possible our own anatomy gives the various results. Those results may look different than they did pre-implant. Think about how your penis can no longer retract when you spend time in a cold pool. The tubing is rigid enough, even deflated, it makes your shaft look different than it would naturally. For these guys who complain about their flaccid, I think it’s important to note the choice to get an implant is a risk that you may not end up with what you dream of. It may or may not be the doctor’s fault. It may or may not be them not following protocol. More often it is simply the way their implant works with their body.
I am 64 and had ED from a VL. Implanted by Dr. Ronald Anglade in Atlanta on 9/18/17. I have an AMS700LGX 21 cm via a Penoscrotal incision. Very happy with results. 6" soft and 6 3/4” x 5 5/8” hard.

Thanks Merckx and LS, just 1 follow up please. I guess I am confused on the RTE. my impression is that is the piece(s) that are inside your body? Why do some people have RTE’s and some don’t? Thanks again for all your help

I have a Coloplast with no RTI's, I'm 5.5" erect and 4" flaccid. When completely flaccid I hang at about 5 o'clock. and I'm very happy with that.
I think the point is this, I have also had both knees replaced, are they just like my original knee's? NO! But they work and no pain. So what makes everyone think that after they have an implant, their dick is going to be just like it was when they were 20? It works now, and sure, there are going to be some trade off's, just as there are with any other replacement surgery. If it tends to stick out a little and you don't want that (I'm kind of proud of it myself!), I'm sure there are ways to fix that. Just be thankful you have a working dick now.
Implanted 6/26/2018, Coloplast Titan 20cm, no RTE'S, infra pubic, Dr. Rhee, Kaiser :o 8-) 80 yrs., married 57 yrs. ED for over 20 yrs.
