Do keep us posted. If you have questions while healing feel free to ask. PM me are I can send you my phone number if you want a quick answer.

Notas and I had our implants done a few days apart and we chatted frequently as to how we were healing.

good luck safe travels home.

Is a slight burning during urination normal? I’m one day out and 60 percent inflated (which is pretty stiff). I figure it’s the inflated cylinders pressing on the urethra. Or just because it is so soon after surgery. It’s not unbearable but not pleasant either.

Probably a leftover side effect from the catheter. Give it a day or two and it should get better. If not, call the doctor to see if it's normal.

If you start developing a fever though, get to an urgent care or your doctor to get a urine test just in case you are developing a UTI.

I had that. And after a couple days, some blood (probably clotted and finally let go) come out in my urine. Not very much, though and not continuous flow.

It made me nervous, though so I called the surgeon's office and was reassured.

My surgeon is Dr. Tajkarimi in Northern Virginia about 4 hours from my residence. He does up to 5 implants per day and from all appearances has an excellent reputation. He will be implanting an antibiotic-coated AMS device due to my T2 diabetes. He also mentioned an infrapubic incision. Other than that, no details - I guess he wants to keep his options open until he gets in there. My insurance plan has an exclusion clause so I’m biting the bullet and self paying. I am extremely nervous which I assume is normal. Interestingly, my greatest apprehensions are in dealing with the drain and catheter (both firsts for me) than any pain from the surgery. In the back of my mind, I keep thinking maybe if I stay on a healthy track functionality may “come back” naturally. But after years of sexual failures and the lost of good relationships, it’s time. At 60, I’m still relatively young and psychologically devasted by this missing part of my life. I am looking forward to a more normal life again. Thanks to all of you who have provided a wealth of personal experiences that definitely make me realize I am not alone, and in turn have helped make these life changing decisions.

Was implanted this morning with an AMS 700 CX. Surgery at 9AM and back at the hotel by 1PM. No real pain, just a slightly uncomfortable stretching feeling inflated at 60% and wrapped. Only minor swelling (best I can tell). So far, (@8PM) no pain meds, not even Tylenol. Return to the Dr. on Saturday to have drain removed and then on to the road of full recovery. Thanks for all your support and Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

Went for my first follow up this morning to have drain removed (thank goodness). He also deflated me (thank goodness II) to demo finding the buttons. He pulled down on the pump very aggressively and wants me to do that 3 times a day and start cycling as soon as I can. I ended up with a 20 cm AMS 700 CX. Interestingly, he told me I was his last implant (on Tuesday) before implant surgeries were halted nationwide due to the coronavirus. Apparently St. Patrick’s Day was indeed my lucky day.

Congrats and welcum to FT:)!
Yeah, the burning will last a day or so, but nothing to be alarmed about. If it gets worse, call Dr.
Please post your follow up too. Considering what is going on, I just wonder how they will treat your follow up. Will they let you come into office, or do a house call, or just tell you to wait (seriously doubt this 3rd option).

I think I mentioned that my Dr deflated me at my 2 weeks when I mentioned that I had to force urination. You are well on your way. Did the Dr mention getting in a hot tub of water. Sure helps to get that bulb softer to pump. First time you pump you will think it is as hard as a marble.
