Folds/Dog Ears in AMS LGX?

Postby indusvalley » Sun Jun 28, 2020 4:39 pm

Hey all, I am done researching and have just one last question. I know that Titan has dog ears, and AMS CX have mild dog ears, but what about AMS LGX? Can those who have an LGX please chime in and let us know if they have dog ears or not? Would really appreciate the answers.

A young guy in his early 30s from South Asia. Implanted Titan 22cm by Dr. Tariq Hakky in Atlanta (Dec 2020). Amazing doctor! No pain during recovery. My size is 5.75” x 4.6” which is better than pre-OP size of 5.6” x 4.5”. Hoping to gain more in future.

Not an LGX user (CX for me) but any inflatable bladder (balloons, penile implant cylinders, etc) will get accordion folds if they are compressed lengthwise while partially or uninflated. As long as there is nothing preventing the tube from being fully relaxed, and straight, it won't fold back on itself. If the length is impinged (i.e. 6" balloon compressed into 5" space), or if it is bent beyond a certain amount, it will get accordion folds or puckers and corners.

That is because the length of the inside diameter of a bend is less than the length of the outside diameter and the cylinder has the same length on top and bottom. The reduced length on the inside diameter of the bend has to go somewhere so it folds in on itself. That results in corners at the flexed axis.

Under the right conditions any inflatable will have some degree of accordion folds and corners. The easiest way to reduce the chances is to ask the doctor not to round UP to the next centimeter when sizing you, and for you to try to keep your penis as straight as possible at all times (the former is either "right-sizing" or undersizing the implant, but the latter is not likely to be a realistic goal).

I keep hearing about Dog ears but don't know what they are or look like. As a man who is pre implant I would like to see some examples. Can someone post pictures. Either here of send me a private message. It would sure help me understand what they are and how they look. Always heard that the implant looks natural and no one can tell, if they see you naked, but I can't imagine how it wouldn't look strange if it has dog ears. Thanks in advance.

For me with an AMS CX it’s more of a feeling when I pull it out to pee than can be seen.

I’m still pretty new to the implant being about 10 months now so not sure if that feeling goes away or you just get used to it

Take a garden hose and bend it in half... the two pointy points on either side of the hose is what we are talking about. :)

I have had the AMS LGX for two and a half years and have NEVER had dog ears. To look at it you would never guess that there is an implant there.

Dog ears: the points that protrude on the sides of a bend of the cylinders. Bend a soda straw to 90° and you can observed the (dog earing). This is can be seen and felt. The dog ear can poke internally and cause pain and discomfort. This gets better over time.
As an owner and operator of an AMS LGX 700 for around two years. I can say the dog ears are not painful anymore. With the fluid completely pressed out the penis doesn't look or feel natural to me. I put a few pumps of fluid in just so the penis has more of a normal shape. This also helps with the dog ears.

The stiffest walled cylinders are more prone the dog earing. The Titan, AMS CRX, AMS LGX, in order from stiffest to more supple.

Good luck and be patient. Franktalk has been and is a great source of information.

Thanks for all the explanations on the dog ears. Someone else also told me a few pumps would remove them.
Also having a large penis doesn't seem to help. This guys is off the charts big and he has them.
