Jere,

I am pulling for you. No matter which way the biopsies go you should come out ahead. If no cancer just a delay and back on the PSA watch. If cancer, they will probably catch it quite early which can give excellent results. Like no chemo, no radiation, just PSA testing where the number stays at or near 0.

Also since you already have ED to the point of needing an implant, your surgeons have a wider area to operate in since they won't have to worry about sparing the erection nerves. This might be one time where ED was a good thing.

You have my prayers and support. Heres wishing you a speedy resolution to the situation and hard times ahead.

The Transrectal Prostate Biopsy

I had my second biopsy yesterday. My first was a year and a half ago, and it didn’t go well at all.

First, I had to wait two weeks for the results, worried to death, asking myself over and over if I have cancer or not.

They gave me Cipro which made my face swell up while we were on vacation in Punta Cana. The resort Doctor gave me some Benadryl for the swelling. When we got back, he changed me to Bactrim, which made me pass out in the shower after just two pills. The next day I was getting my tail bone X-rayed.

Long story short…I had prostatitis for three months. He even gave me a pill for Vaginal Yeast Infection. ???

When arriving at my new Urologist yesterday, I was shaking when I went in the office. The nurse got me in a room and handed me a Cipro to take..WRONG, it’s in my record! She gave me an antibiotic shot in the hip and we skipped the pills. She then took me to the exam room and explained everything and got on a computer and changed my record to show the Cipro and Bactrim in bright red letters. I was telling her that I was not excited about this biopsy and told her of the first one. She said “don’t worry”; he would give me an anesthetic injection to numb the prostate. This was not done with the first. He came in and got me lubed up, and did a DRE. He said that I was normal size and he didn’t feel anything.

He then snapped the ultrasonagraphy and said I would hear twelve of those snaps. He then inserted the ultrasound probe in me and began the biopsy. I jump with the first one, but it wasn’t necessary, I only heard the snap with no pain. The next eleven were a“snap”! Five minutes later, I was done. He came back in the room after I got dressed and said he thouth everything looked good, from the Ultra Sound pictures. With that and the DRE feeling good, he said he thought I would be fine. Going home, my neighbor drove and took roads he knew that were not filled with holes and bumps. Which is hard to do in Memphis.

I was only sore for about five hours. By the time I went to bed, the blood in my urine was gone. This morning, the first pee had a little blood and there was no soreness. So far, so good. We also talked about the implant and he said if everything comes back good, and he believes it will, he will fast track the surgery! Keep your fingers crossed and hopefully I want have to wait two more weeks.

Jere,

Glad to hear that things went well! Still praying for you to get great results on the biopsies. Roads without bumps and potholes in Memphis; that would be a miracle. The part of Cordova that I lived in is now part of Memphis, it was annexed just before I moved there. At least the city got rid of Herrington!

I have less than a week left until attempt two; hope that you get to go for you implant very soon.

That first biopsy was one horror story! Thank goodness mine was at the other extreme. No problem from Cipro, no real pain with the biopsies even with no numbing.

Here is wishing that all is well for you.

Good luck and hard times ahead.

Great news on your biopsy. Now go get your bionic tool.

After manually pumping mine up, I thought someone needs to invent a remote control for the penile impant. Like a garage door opener. Wouldn't that be great?

Jere,

GREAT NEWS!

Hope you get a quick scheduling. I will be there for you with prayer and any words of encouragement you might need.

Oh, the automatic pump. Sounds good but I am an Amateur Radio operator. It wouldn't be so good if my signal got to the implant. Might give me a dancing boner.
