I'm assuming not many, but is there anyone here who has a penile implant for over 10+ years? If so, how long, and has your experience/opinion of implants changed from when you first got it over 10 years ago?
As someone considering an implant in the near future, hearing from those with long-term experience would help.

Re: For those who have had an implant for at least 10 years
A good question to ask but your replies might be few.
First, considering the age of many implantees & most have other underlying health conditions. The pool of long term patients shrinks as old age catches up with them. I.e. many die or become partnerless from the death of their spouse.
Finding 10 year patients that still visit FT is a long stretch by itsself.
My suggestion is to go back in the old posts & look for names that look familar. Send them a message to see what their feelings are. No matter what you decide to do. I wish you good luck in your search. But please keep in mind that of all of the treatments there is for ED. Implants is the only one that you can consider as a long term treatment. Even the possibility of revisions is over blown in my opinion. Replacing a pump is hardly a serious surgery.

GT1956's post is a good idea,

but perhaps a quicker way (or more sure way perhaps) is to look at current member's posts and look for their "Joined" date. Upper right-hand side corner of each member's post.

Or just look at the sigs, 90% have had a revision within 2 years which is what’s making me wait

There's a well known phenomenon in retail. Satisfaction is gauged by those with problems but there are many more with no problem that never comment. That's why Amazon is so persistent in getting customers reviews.
What I'm getting at is that as the old cliche goes, "The hurt dog hollers the loudest.", Many satisfied implantees with long lasting implants never post here. More likely to post are those who have had problems. There are several implantees who posted for a year before I started on this board back on November last year that went MIA after they received their implant a few months ago. That's common because there's no further need of support from those who have gone thru it if you have a satisfactory result.

I think that you explain it very well. Why follow a forum that you don't "need" to for 10 years. It would be like posting a car review on a 10 year old car that has never given you any trouble.

90%?!?!
Did you estimate or do a count?
I apologize for being confrontational, but statistics got their bad reputation ("There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics.", attributed to Mark Twain) undeservedly.

"MIA" "Missing in Action" They are missing because they are too busy "in action" to write.

Re: For those who have had an implant for at least 10 years
So help me out on the actual numbers. I think the total penile implants per year run around 25,000. I suspect that one of the first things a guy will do if he is having trouble is to search the web for clues. Then, just like the rest of us he finds out that there isn't many sources of info other than FT. So where does he bring his problem.....here. All well & good because I think that is part of FT's mission.
What are we talking about? Maybe 1-2 revisions a month for members? Remember that a guy needing a revision can make a lot of posts in the time it takes to actually get the revision. Throw in the natural fear of a guy that maybe has never had a surgery yet alone a surgery on his dick. These guys, understanable, will tend to "see" all the problems associated with implants. Thus become even more afraid.
I personally, having had a partial circucision due to phimosis in 2013. Don't fear implant surgery. It doesn't hurt that bad. As many have said, my pain pill usage was quite low.
Btw, I wonder if some of the problems that crop up soon after surgery are from enjoying it too much. Best that I can tell, the implant corporal access incision is closed with only 1 stitch. I wonder if some guys get a little carried away early on & that leads to early failure of the stitched area. The tissue doesn't look very sturdy in the videos that I've seen.

Re: For those who have had an implant for at least 10 years
I had my first implant on 12/2011 so I'm just about 10 years. Was treated at the VA in milwaukee by Dr Margurite Cressin, originally for Peyronies which I ultimately had surgery for. The implant surgery went virtually painless and was very successful, however the surgery for peyronies took half of my 7 1/2 inches!! Other than coping with the lst length, everything has worked very well. I check out the boards every now and again in the hopes of regaining som lenght again.
