Gene, thank you. As someone who will be having his first consult with an implant surgeon in 3 weeks, you helped me focus and reduced some of the terrors. Again, thank you for your words. Steve

Gene,
Thank you so much for your inspiring post!

I am at the point where things will only get worse if I dont get the implant. However, I am terrified of getting an infection, especially if NY closes down because of COVID. I had a video consult with Dr. Eid and will likely fly to NY for a consultation.

Thanks again

gene...thank you for such a well thought through, wonderfully written, and completely helpful post. Your empathy for us all was so great, and having someone like you talk about the road less traveled , and to hear your elaborate description of life on the otherside is such a great resource to all of us men who are fighting that beast called ED.

THANK YOU ! tangerine

Gene308. Good to hear that you're doing well.
I retired from the base 2 years ago. Mariah now works for Dr. Brant. Met both of them during the summer. It was a good visit.

Yup, she seems to be very competent. She corrected me when I pronounced Hotaling wrong.
Thanks for the reachout offer. I get Medicare this winter so will try for my implant then. Don't want to get mentally beat down by arguing with my insurance cause I'm so close to 65. Fight the battles that are winnable.
Spent a full carreer in the landing gear division. On this implant journey, I don't feel like I need a lot of hand holding. I've read what seems like thousands of posts. My carreer helped me develope a pretty good b/s meter. So I think that I have a pretty good handle on this. It isn't rocket science.
There is a good chance that I won't announce my implant until it's been in for a month or 2.
I'll look, I might have a phone number for Mariah. If I do? I'll send it to you.

Gene308,
One question here: you state that for you a "penile scrotal approach" incision was a must. Could you elaborate here? Dr Peritto is one of the developers of the "infrapubic" approach and does virtually all of his implants in that manner. Most surgeons have a preference that they use but don't like to share it with a patient (shortage of time, scare away a paying patient)? One man on here said that his surgeon said that this is the way I do it. No explanations or discussion. And the man allowed the surgeon to perform the implant. For me.....I have a scientific mind, coached to become a MD from an early age but didn't want to invest the time.......I need to know what implant the surgeon is going to use, the technique, his & the hospital's rate of infection, what he will prescribe for pain, the anesthetic technique & then I will decide whether that particular surgeon will do it or I continue to research other surgeons.
Thank you for writing this article. It has helped me greatly.

Thanks again,
Jake
