1st Visit w/Urologist

Postby jn1421 » Sat Oct 30, 2010 2:36 pm

Hey Guys,
Dave here, I have an appointment with Dr. Jelly-Fingers on the 16 of November 2010. This appointment will be the first with a Urologist. My hope is to find out if I have a venous leak or not.

If you guys don’t mind, I’d appreciate your help compiling a list of questions that I should be asking him. I don’t have a clue where to start nor do I understand any of it to ask a knowledgeable question.

A venous leak may be the least of my concerns at 56 so don’t be shy in telling me what I should focus on.

Thanks in advance
Dave

Dave

To check for a venous leakage they do a Color Doppler (ultrasound). First flaccid then the doctor injects your penis with a small dose of PGE1 to cause an erection. Then he does the Color Doppler again.

Are you having problems with erections? If so how severe and do the pills V, C or L help?

The next step is a lot of doctors want you to try penile injections, which I do not recommend because they made my condition wores by causing corporal fibrosis.

At this stage if you have venous leakage you need to find a Male Sexual Function Specialist not a general practice urologist.

Good Luck and let us know the results.

Thanks Jack,
Yes, I've had ED issues for over 6 yeas now. I've been using Levitra for a few years with minimal success. However, I also use a Pump and do penis exercises; all three combined produce a decent erection suitable for sex. Without all three it's pretty much dead; I do get good morning wood tho.

I just did a google search on Male Sexual Function Specialists (didn't know they existed), and need to spend more time finding one in my area. I will keep a progress log as it happens.

Thanks again for your experiential input.
Dave

Dave

I see you are in the northwest. If you have a problem finding a Male Sexual Function Specialist in that area send me an email I know of a gentleman in that area that has been to one.

Start a journal on when you go to the doctor and the results. Also get a copy of any and all lab work, they have to give you a copy by federal law.

Any way I can help just let me know.

Jack,
Yes, whenever it’s convenient, please contact your friend here in the Northwest about a Male Sexual Function specialist. The searching I’ve done provides unreliable results; kind of frustrating.

Thank you very much
Dave

Hey Jack,
Do you know the name of the specialist in the Northwest. That is where I live, and would really like to consult with someone that knows what they are talking about, instead of a urologist that is making money slicing and dicing guys.

Thanks
Dallas

I seem to be in a similar situation as Jack, although I have diabetes and my Ed has progressed over 10+ years. I also use Viagra, a pump, and penis exercises which allow me to generate an 80 - 90% erection. Because I can achieve an erection, albeit with help and because of my history of diabetes, I don't believe I have a venos leak. Without the leak, would a general urologist be the appropriate first step before seeing a male sexual function specialist? My appointment with the urologist is scheduled for Nov, 19. My last T test showed I was just a few points below the normal range. I have read that a testostorone gel could help.

I will send the gentleman in the Northwest an email for the doctors name and send it to you by PM.

FYI testosterone will give you a erection boost for a short while but sorry to say it will not last. It helps lots of othre things like sex drive, weight gain, brain fog and strength just to mention a few.

Yes, a general practice urologist can do a Color Doppler (ultra sound) to check for venous leakage.

As soon as I get the doctors mane and location in the Nortwest I will let you know.

Doctor in the Northwest.

The contact I have recommended Dr. Kevin McCoy in in Portland Oregon.

As always do your own research on any doctor.
