Solution for burning pee sensation?

Postby indusvalley » Sat Dec 05, 2020 6:08 am

Some of you know that I have been around in this forum for some time and benefitted enormously. Yesterday I finally got implanted by Dr Hakky in Atlanta. I am so far pleased with the results. I have absolutely no pain (no idea what magic he did), except the burning pee sensation due to removal of catheter. Since many of you faced similar burning pee sensation, what solutions are there to reduce it? Did you guys take any medicine for that and did that help?

P.S. I will write a full detailed post on my experience after follow up with Dr Hakky on Monday when he will remove my drain.

Yes I am aware that it’s normal but I was wondering if there was some medication to make it feel less. Nevertheless I am tolerating it fine. I will share my story next week in details about my implant.

Couple days??? Mine went away after a couple hours.
1st time was a psychological thing, just afraid to pee. Yep, it did burn, but not as bad as I thought it would be.
Next time, much easier.
But yes, it should go away.

Welcome to the brotherhood! :D

It lasted about a week for me. I called the dr. and they had me pee in a cup to check for urinary infection but all was good. I did take some extra strength Tylenol the first few days for discomfort. Didn't seem to make any difference in the burning sensation when peeing.

As I understand it, the urethra gets irritated from the catheter insertion and removal and it actually takes two or three urinations to help heal the irritation. Each time someone pees after a catheter is removed, the sensation is less painful until about the third or fourth bladder-full is released and the pain should be all but gone.

I was prescribed phenazopyridine and subsequently Uribel for my burning after my aquablation procedure to resection my prostate. Neither worked for me, but then again I had a catheter for 4 days so your mileage may differ. The first turns your urine bright orange and the second turns it blue. I still have burning a month out. There is no sign of infection and my urologist said to give it a few more weeks. He said if it gets worse or becomes intolerable to go see him.

Hopefully one or the other will help you. A word of caution - if you have kidney disease or received a kidney transplant, then these are not for you because of the dye.

4 days is really insane. Dr Hakky said he will insert catheter during operation and take it out even before I wake up. So in my case the catheter was inside for an hour or two only. My burning sensation is getting less and less every time I pee which makes sense based on what Waynetho replied above. Hopefully by today or tomorrow, it will be completely gone. I will keep drinking water and ensure I pee regularly.

On the side note, my 50% semi-erect penis looks so nice I can’t believe it’s mine. Lol
