Hi,
Yesterday I got my implant by Dr.Kai Li at Kaiser Permanente, VA.. The procedure went smoothly. Didn't have pain. Immediately after surgery I felt pain near my bladder, where the reservoir is located. I asked to go to the bathroom. My bladder was almost full. Urine was clear. I felt very comfortable after peeing.
I was surprised by knowing that no catheter was placed. Only a drainer on the reservoir incision.
I got AMS CX 21cm with 1 cm RTE. I forgot to ask the exact surgeon about my length and girth, but will do today.
I am still in a room at the facility. So far everything is very good. Thanks to the wonder people on this forum who shared their experiences and knowledge. They were very helpful for me to make the decision.

Since you had RP few years back, I am wondering if you had second incision in lower abdomen for reservoir placement or everything was done through one. Was it penoscrotal or infra public?

Congratulations.
Expect to be uncomfortable for only 2 weeks. The worst part for me was the catheter so thankfully you didn't have to endure that.

It was infrapubic. One incision just above the penis, and the reservoir has another horizontal incision.
Because I have a hernia mesh, it little bit complicated, but i see that he could place the reservoir up next to the mesh twards ldft side

Yes there a little pain in the reservoir area, but it is good as i was expecting more pain. Thank god it is controlled now.
Another thing dr. Li told me to keep pushing the pump down, which makes me sore in testicles.

I am having a follow after 9 days, and will be starting cycling after 4 weeks, in another follow up. Not sure if I will be able to have sex at that time.

Congrats and welcome. I'm sure they did cath you during surgery, but I'm still surprised they didn't foley cath you for recovery. They drained something like 3-4 liters of urine from me through my cath in the 24 hours I stayed at the hospital. They didn't allow me out of the hospital until I showed I could pee on my own without the cath (had a hell of a time convincing my body to do so).

When you ask your surgeon, I'd say also ask them for the notes from the procedure. It should have things like measurements proximally and distally, as well as any complications or issues they might have run into (which is usually none).

As far as recovery goes, understand that it will come in phases. Some things will feel better after a little while, other things will get worse for a little while, but everything is a constant march toward your body healing. Don't be afraid to take the pain meds when you are in pain, though you generally don't even need the opiates for that, as you can take a standard dose of acetaminophen and ibuprofen at the same time safely (check with your doctor before you do so, just in case, I'm not a medical professional!). It took 3-4 months before things really settled down for me, but I was able to operate the device within a week of surgery (under instructions from my doc) and I was able to have sex at 3 weeks (after approval by my doc).
