My incontinence has dramatically improved since my implant. Due to cancer in Feb 2019, my prostate was taken out. As previously stated, you can still pee fully erect with an implant. My wife does not like even small drops of pee during sex. I am going to limit my liquids after 6 pm and see if that helps. I wear a light pad when going out, but no more than a couple of drops are usually in it. If I use the pad all day, I get irritated but no issue from the implant at all. I wear loose clothing not to draw attention.

As WhiteCane said above, consider the Artificial Urinary Sphincter, AUS800. I had a Green Light Laser photo vaporization of the prostate that went a bit bad. I would up with a stricture that had to be surgically repaired, and bad incontinence, due to scarring of the bladder neck. It sucked, wearing diapers....

I went to Dr Arthur Burnett at Johns Hopkins Hospital. He installed the AUS system. There is a small bulb in the scrotum, smaller that the implant. You squeeze it 2-3 times, and you have about 90 seconds to void freely. Your urge feels exactly the same as before. It dried me right up. I wish I had not had the issue in the first place, but the AUS gave me back the confidence to go out, not worried about smelling like urine.

Hi Bamaboy, I too need the aus and implant. I had my prostate removed in Jan 2016 and have ed and incontinence ever since. I did have the trans-urethral sling placed in May 2019 and while initially, for ten days, it seemed to work I still have leakage that has become stable and am now using two or three depends briefs per day, (that's down from three or four). I find the pads do not provide enough protection. I see you have had both procedures and I am curious to hear how it's working out for you with both devices. How do you manage with a cluttered 'toolbox'. Also, in one of your posts you say that with the aus you have about 90 seconds to void. My concern is, if voiding is finished (in 30 seconds say), it would seem that there is a high probability of additional leakage before the aus closes up and becomes watertight again. In your experience, how do you manage this or is it a non-issue for you?
Thanks.

xroyalnagy, I have an implant and just dribble. Some days fill a light pad in 3 hrs. I have an appointment June 29 to talk about an ams 800 aus. With my implant doc. I will post after my appointment. Just dreading all the cutting and healing.

Oldbeek, what were you like before the implant? Did the implant slow your incontinence? Ejaculating urine is also not something to advertise and I'm hoping that some combination of the implantable devices will stop that as well.

If anything incontinence is worse after implant. But maybe I am just getting tired of all this crap.

Hi guys,
I was having leaking problems before implant a year and half ago, and that continued after. Then last February I had the green light laser procedure because of 5-6 night time bathroom trips. Leaking about the same.
A therapist here works with women-and men-to help control that problem. It is pelvic floor muscle strengthening with exercises. They include Kegels but are a lot more. I had therapy about 6 weeks and continue exercises about every day now. And things are a lot better. Only one trip to bathroom last night and very seldom leaking.

I went through that physio exercise (with the kegals and pelvic strengthening), beginning about 9 months after my prostatectomy. The highly qualified physio staff were very good and patient with me but after about 3 months it was agreed that no progress was being made, I had to face the fact that there would be no improvement and that incontinence was now part of my life unless I had surgical intervention. As noted earlier, I went the surgical route with the sling procedure which gave me some relief but is far from being comfortable, it never becomes "normal". It's not reassuring to hear the example given that the implant does nothing to improve the situation but rather, makes it worse.

I had a prostatectomy 4 years ago. I did kegel exercises regularly and I was dry unless I drank alcohol. I got an implant 7 weeks ago and now I am leaking. A sling was installed but urine still leaks out.

Can anyone share if this improves over time or there other measures I should take?

After my implant I leaked a lot when active. I ride a quad training bird dogs and leaked like a sieve then. Judging dogs on a quad for 8 hrs in the winter and my dick would be frozen. That and squirting during orgasm pushed me over the edge. I scheduled an AUS800 install with my same implant dr. Tenderness in my sack was gone after the implant, but adding the AUS pump 5 months ago thing are still very tender. To many tools in the sack for an active guy. Cant imagine jogging. I get very sore after a day in the field walking. My Doc says it may take a year to normalize. The AUS has kind of a safety valve that will allow leakage. I leak a wee bit with orgasm, but not squirting as before. Riding the quad does pound the valve and cause some leakage. No more judging for 8 hrs straight. My dog and I are going to continue to compete and win till I am in the ground.
