If you apply for TSA precheck you will bypass the body scanner. I have an ostomy as well, so this works out for me in more than one way.

Before my pacemaker I went through the metal detectors. I've been through both old and new. Never set it off. I have mode metal in my knees than in the implant. Now with the pacemaker I go through the body scanner. Still no issues. And if it does and they want to check, so be it. I'll tell them we will do it private and then turn it into a show and tell. LOL Actually if my implant sets off the scanner I think I would be grateful. The people around me would think I have a much bigger dick than what I really have.

I have the precheck. Never been able to bypass the scanners. Or do you mean you only go through the metal detector.

Never any issue with metal detector (magnatometer), but nearly every time through the full body scaner I am flagged for a groin anomoly. They offer a private pat down, but only after they swing the monitor with the image of a chalkline man with a bright yellow box around his dick for the entertainment of everyone in line. The only time I was not lit up was when I made a extra effort to deflate 100 %. Perhaps that helps, but I only have a sample space of 1.

There was a thread aprox. 3 years or so IIRC ago about this. The main result that I remember is that size does make a difference. Back then they had the old scans that showed your actual image but were switching over to the chalk line with warning areas. Seems to me that the scanners do pick up the larger than average devices. I have not flown since my return after my surgery and I do believe I set off the machine a bit but due to me returning from a round trip and accelerated line and the location ( high volume surgeon who attracted a lot of air travel patients) I am sure it was something the scanner guy had seen many times before. I had talked with another member that was a bit larger than I am/was and he had trouble returning in the same airport maybe a year or so before. I think that back then things were a bit new and agents were learning. You had concerns about the shoe bomber and they were really looking for the new way to conceal explosives. I would think experience and training has improved but I do carry my card in my wallet in case I need medical care and am not able tell health workers I have the implant. AMS has a link on the web site to request new cards. I do not know about Coloplast.
