Dr. Jenkins at OSU

Postby Gbutler288 » Sat Feb 20, 2021 3:42 pm

Just wondering if anyone here had an implant performed by Dr. Jenkins from OSU? I think I'm ready to approach the implant journey and he was recommended. He did a small procedure 2 years ago for a right testicular denervation. I like him but looking to hear from people who received an implant from him.

If I don't choose him I'm willing to travel just want to have a good experience and make sure everything is performed correctly. Open for suggestions/recommendations.

Gbutler288,
First, ask the doctor, How many implants has he done in the past year?

What device does he think would work for you?

What kind of surgery does he do? Infrapubic, Penoscrotal, or the other one where the penis is "degloved".

So, in conclusion, ask questions... until YOU feel comfortable having this doctor cut on you.

You can plug the doctors name in to Health Grades to get info on your doctors experience. HG gives a percentage. Also look to see if the doctor does complex penile surgery. And if the doctor has any publications and what they are about. Most important is to ask the doctor if they do revisions. All these will give you an idea about your doctors experience and interest in implants. You can also use HG to check other doctors in your area. And you can search your doctors name in the search function on this site. Might be something from a past member. That would cover a bunch more than just a post now.

Local care is worth a bunch I think. Really difficult to get a check up long distance. So check for a really good doctor local first. All doctors have reoperation rates just some way less than others. The low volume 0-2 implants a year have the most and 31+ a year the least but not much less than the 7-30 group. If you can find a doctor with 50% or higher rating (does as many as 1/2 the URO's in the the country) that would be ones to check. The ones that say may perform are the really low ones. And some do not even do implants. If you need help with Health Grades send me a PM and I'll get you my phone number and walk you through it.

Good luck with your doctor search.

I've researched surgeons in the midwest pretty extensively as I have been on this route for 3 years now. Never heard of Jenkins. Indy, Chicago, and Michigan have some good ones. Tatem is who I decided to go with. If you search YouTube he has some videos of operations he has done that are pretty informative. I've chatted with a few guys on here that used him and all are happy. He is young, but experienced and does probably 200+ per year.
