It's done. 1 hour 15 mins. No numbers until Monday morning consult. Can't see anything. No real pain. Recovery nurse topped me off before we left for the drive home.


I feel relieved. Huge weight off of me. I've done all that is possible.

Kicking ED out of our life is awesome. I had that same weight lifting feeling. You have another waiting bit of time to go though. Rest up and heal well and prevent infection. Good times are ahead but it will take a bit to get there. After the waiting you have a bit of work to do. I look forward to hearing good things from you for the next 9+ years.

Day Zero


Got home and took a nap. Laid almost flat except for head. I'm thinking it will be impossible to llay flate 3 days until unwrapping at doc's office Monday morning. What's did you guys do?

Right now I'm pillow under thighs, head propped up on pillows and headboard. Still numb, no pain. Unable to close left leg. I can spread L leg out, can't move it back in without help. I can rotate the leg.Anyone else familiar with that issue? I'm thinking pain/numbing injection. Stuff is strong enough to have its own wristband warning No More until Tuesday.

Feeling very good overall, so far. An "Airplane" movie bing tonight.

I was down as much as I could and had instructions for ice packs. I used bags of frozen dry beans. I was in over night and had instructions to un wrap when I was back at my hotel room. Cath was removed the next morning before I left the hospital. I did not have a drain. Just took it easy and kept a clean gauze 4x4 and Bacitracin on my incision. And wore a jock strap. I had one I brought with me and used it after I took my first shower. The one I left the hospital with was due for a change then.

I am a stomach sleeper. I have drainage that I choke on if I am on my back. It was difficult to find a position for sleep. But awake I just did what ever was comfortable. But I do remember changing my position a bit quite often,

So I just took it easy and followed my doctors instructions. Rest up and heal quickly.

Easy day today. L leg movement better. Nerve block with Exparel drug. Just now starting to feel pressure contact some parts of groin. Highly recommended. Zero Pain since minute 1 awakened in recovery. I can feel my finger contact on my Penis tips. Hope this is a gradual lessoning of numbness.

Spent all day talking with wife. She didn't believe I would do this Solo. She did pick me up. "And then the fight broke out" Short Story: Get on Board or Leave. Her choice.

Been horizontal 28 hours. Have to get up soon and stretch. I pre-bought a hold down, shutoff valve and 18" extension tube for the catheter. See attached pic. Also note the tape used. gauze wrapped with a stretch plastic type tape. Waterproof. Very solid package. No need for a Jock Strap. Lots of compression. Dashed red stripe on the right side is the drain line.

Pain Free. Anxious to check out the new me.

I also had a nerve block. That was amazing. Pain free. But I stayed in hospital the first night. Dr pulled the tubes the next morning and Ibwas on my way home.

Never had any pain. Mine was Jan 13, 2020. LGX

Open question...
When I was getting ready to leave the outpatient center, the nurse gave me a jock strap and told me to get dressed... and wifey drove us home.
No catheter - No drain tube
LookingUp, They gift wrapped you. did you have an infrapubic?
So, is this type of bandaging and tubing normal...wow? I hope that is low stick tape.

I'm peno-scrotal. The wrap "sling" is like a slightly flexible "cast". Penis is locked in the vertical towards belly button. Scrotum is lifted as well. It's obvious lots of thought given to the strapping placement. Firm but not too tight. Tape layers prevent frostbite when applying ice. Ingenious solution using off the shelf materials..

Tomorrow I have the catheter and drain removed. lots of questions I need answers. My next appointment is in 10 weeks. Why? Don't know. Maybe due to internal damage done by PCa radiation treatment?

Will find out tomorrow.
