Well,,, I guess it still continues,,
I got a call last night at 4:00pm and a doctor that I haven't heard from before was on the other end telling me that I have a serious staff infection and that it is from the tannish fluid collected from my scrotum during my surgery.
He called it NONSPOREFORMING GRAM POSITIVE BACILLUS
One Colony
and prescribed me an additional antibiotic called cefdinir to take along with my other antibiotic ciprofloxacin for 2 weeks..
I also noticed that my legs and theighs are also scratched to hell here and there from whatever they were doing to me on the surgery table.
Fucking fed up with it all and ready to have this thing removed the next time I have to get cut open.
Just hoping for the best now..
Any advice or tips or tricks for helping to get rid of this infection guys ?

Did they give you any advise about bathing? I would think it would be the same as your implant surgery. You just have to wait and see how the meds do. Keep a close watch as it takes time for them to work. Sorry you are having all this shit happening to you!

No,,, they didn't say anything about bathing and only said to take the pills..
Very poor communication with the Mayo,, have to send them messages thru there portal to get anywhere,, and then it could take days. it gives you the feeling of having your money taken away and being left on the roadside all alone.
I think its part of the high surgical volume thing.

Re: MY IMPLANT NIGHTMARE CONTINUES
Even considering what is happening right now with COVID and vaccines, I would consider this bad publicity.
Take notes, esp. on how long things take. Speak to the head of surgery. Of course, we don't know that whole story, so set up an appt. to discuss what is happening.
SUBTLY mention, in conversation, publicity news channels ("its not like I am publicizing my plight, but I would like some concrete answers..."). Do not expect to gain anything, but they will have to do a lot of damage control...for one fuck up (if it comes to this)!
Find out why they are gambling on your discomfort and things getting worse by the day, if it is an infection. They will come back with the COVID excuse, they are short handed on days, ect.
You can come back by saying that you understand, but that is not your problem. You found a way to get this far, and now you are their mercy. You have paid them already, so...something to this effect.
Holy crap! I was on page 4 when I wrote this note. I did not even read pages 1. 2, or 3! Damn guy, I would be pissed AND calling everyone and their mother on this one. Fuck modesty, you fucked my pecker up!
Reading other pages...Okay, I am back! I too, had 3 surgeries in less than a year. $12k out of pocket. Even though I was bitching and moaning throughout my 1st surgery about things happening, they still gambled with a suspected infection and sat on that information. Inches were taken away from me because of their laziness.
I was lucky, my infection stayed in my balls, but if it went anywhere else, I would be on their case....you gotta make more noise!

Don't get discouraged, they are probably wanting to be extra careful that you do NOT get an infection. I had my doc give me a MONTH of Bactrim after mine as I was paranoid as hell about an infection, even though I didn't have one. It's best to take it to make sure.

Re: MY IMPLANT NIGHTMARE CONTINUES
I was told by a doctor that the bio film that forms around the implant cylinders has bacteria in it. I have a problem with my RTE end of my cylinders. The doctor wants to just fix the problem as a replacement requires a lot of flushing to remove or kill all that bacteria. So I would guess that as more of cylinder came out some of the bacteria in your biofilm came out also. As they had you on antibiotics in surgery and are continuing them and adding after you have a good chance that this will take care of the problem. You just need to follow all the instructions for preventing additional infection. Be strict on wound care, I was not cleared for baths for a long time after surgery. No problem for me as I don't take them. I always shower. I also have alcohol wipes I use for my genitals and inner thighs after showers to dry things out and white cotton under ware that I wash with bleach. I did not wipe my incision with the wipes until fully healed but wiped down every thing close. You also need to be as healthy as possible to speed healing and help the mediation work. So that your natural infection fighting works well. Just keep everything clean and dry as possible and follow instructions for wound care. I had another injury that was very slow to heal. I was non mobile for a very long time. but I could still use my arms. I had some weights and did arm exercises. You might consider this as any exercise helps increase blood flow and helps make you stronger for fighting infection.
Really sorry about the way the Mayo is handling your follow up. I wish you only the best of luck going forward with this. Take care and stay as positive as you can as mental health can also effect outcome.

Re: MY IMPLANT NIGHTMARE CONTINUES
Thank you for the replies,, yes I just have to take the doubled up antibiotics and hope for the best,, the fluid that they had found in the scrotum was tannish in color,, and they suspected infection at the time,, but still went ahead and done the repairs and closed it up.
Just sort of depressing.. but I am going to try and think positive and see how things go.
The short doctor visits are absolutely a result of high volume surgeries by the surgeons team,,
More patients they work on,,,, the less time they can spend with each patient..
Thank you again to all the FT members..

Re: MY IMPLANT NIGHTMARE CONTINUES
Just an update,, had my 6 week post op app, this week.
There is still the small b-b sized bumps on both sides at the base of the penis, they said they done full internal stitching on the last revision,, but I don't want to have the cylinders to back there way out of the corpra again,
The surgeon said to go another 4 weeks before cycling the implant,, and then told me to push in and hold the 2 bumps on each side as I do the inflating to only 60%,, like he is afraid of the cylinders coming out again.
He tryed telling me they are folds,, but once he started inflating me on the exam table,, he stopped and said it could be part of the cylinder coming thru the stitchs again.
Also told me the left cylinder is not seated in the crus,, but this should repair its self as I use it in the future,,, is he just bullshiting me on this subject ? Last revision he took both RTE's out..
Makes me nervous to even think of cycling in 4 weeks from now.
Said the infection is gone,, but no blood work or ct scan was done.
Hope no one else has to go thru any of this,, I know we are a small percentage of men that are having problems like this,,,, But Damn....

Re: MY IMPLANT NIGHTMARE CONTINUES
Here are the last clinical notes he put in my files as to the latest problems.
Patient is seen in follow-up for implant revision. He has had a difficult recent penile implant course. He has history of a priapism for which he has erectile dysfunction. A narrow cylinder device was placed and he was quite happy with this after its placement 5/2020. The device malfunctioned and required revision due to a fluid leak from tubing fracture at the junction of the pump in 1/21.
I subsequently replaced the device with a standard cylinder which unfortunately extruded from the previous corporotomies. This was likely a combination of the relatively small capsule from the narrow device, the patient's fibrotic penile tissue from history of priapism, and a low-grade infection that was cultured at the time of revision. At the time of this revision both corpora were extruded from the cavernosa. Notably the device was downsized from 23.5/23 to 22 cm as the measurements had changed.
The patient is quite worried about repeat device extrusion. There is a small fold of fabric when the device is flaccid in the vicinity of the previous corporotomy. The patient relates that the previous extrusions started similarly. I cycled the device repeatedly and clearly both cylinders are still in the corpora. I also performed a penile Doppler today which revealed a robust tissue around both cylinders even at the area of fold in the fabric. The device cycles well. Incision is clean dry and intact no signs of infection. The patient denies fevers / chills.
Understandably, the patient would like to proceed conservatively and thus he will not cycle the device for another month. In the interim likely a more robust capsule will form and minimize this fold of the fabric. He will begin gently cycling the device after month's time and let us know how things are going. I instructed him to try to hold the area that seems to be kinked to prevent extrusion if there is a small area of weakness in the corpora. Of note, I use long-lasting 2-0 PDS at the time of his revision case so these sutures should remain intact for several months.
I am actually thinking of talking to another surgeon about all of this,,, there were mistakes made thru out all 3 surgeries that I went thru,, for the surgeon to tell me to hold in on these areas is ridiculous I think.
A sling or a graph as I understand it should have been used,, I'm coming up on 8 weeks now and nothing has changed,, I can give it 2 pumps and I feel the cylinder extruding outward on the lower left side.
I don't know what to do anymore.
Thinking of giving up on this whole mess.
