Pain?
Pain?
I am scheduled to have their procedure this Monday the 15th and I’m really stressed out! I feel that the thought of it being so painful is making me pass out. Can anybody share the true level of pain I’m going to experience and for how long?

Re: Pain?
What procedure is that?
The science (or art, depending on how you look at it) of pain management is quite advanced. I think you are worrying too much.
I had a couple of surgeries in my life. The recovery from my penile implant took longer than the recovery from my shoulder surgery and was a bit more painful. The recovery from by appendectomy was also a day or two shorter than the implant. But the pain level for each was about the same.
Keep the traumatized area elevated as much as possible (probably means laying flat on your back for a few days). Apply cold to the area to lessen swelling and later, heat to promote blood circulation and healing. Use pain medications judiciously and you will be just fine.
You can "milk" your surgery for sympathy if you like.

Re: Pain?
I don't think IPP implant surgery recovery is anywhere near painful enough for someone to pass out. It is somewhat uncomfortable as the area starts to heal and the nerves wake up but it's not excruciating. Liberal use of ice for the first several days makes the pain bearable and I never even finished the Tramadol that was prescribed. Truth be told I may have taken 3-4 pills over the next week or two but the Tramadol did less to relieve my discomfort than the ice bag did.
By day three I was driving and even went into a fast food restaurant and had to "adjust" myself a bit walking in because the pump was in an awkward and slightly painful position. I had to apologize to the girl at the register and explained that I'd recently had a procedure and I was still healing and a bit uncomfortable at times.

Re: Pain?
Maybe I’m an anomaly, but I seldom feel pain. Soreness, sure.....maybe discomfort. But real pain is rare.
The only pain I had from implant surgery was peeing after having been catheterized. It was a lot like trying to expel hot shards of broken glass. It was sort of funny, in a way. Two or three days after surgery I drove to Austin (60 miles) to let surgeon remove drain and admire his handiwork. The doc, his PA, and a nurse were in examining room and I asked “what ham handed, nitwit, 2 weeks out of med school intern did you have cathetetize me?”
The surgeon admitted he had done it himself.
At any rate, my advice is let ice be your friend, and take the pain pills in accordance with doctor instructions. Get ahead of any pain rather than wait until you hurt like hell and try to knock it out.

Re: Pain?
I had very little real pain. I had soreness and discomfort for a long time. I stayed the night in the hospital and only took Tylenol before my ride back to my motel room. I was given a bottle pain meds but only used 2 for the plane ride home. The rest of the time I used Tylenol and Motrin. Both waiting for my plane to leave in my room and for the rest of my recovery. But we all have different pain tolerances. And I don't do well on prescription pain meds My most painful recovery was when my left heel was shattered. That took over a year and a half, 2 surgeries and left me with pain walking to the point I would be down for a number of days depending on how far I had to walk. An abdominal gun shot wound was the same pain level but a lot shorter. This was a walk in the park compared to those.
Some studies have been said to been made that in cases a placebo was given in place of pain meds with success. So it seems part of this is mental. This has also been shown to be the case with shock with a non life threatening wound. So if you worry about having a lot of pain then you just might talk yourself into it. As far as passing out from pain I will say in all my life I never have. And I agree with the the other posts on care after surgery and you will be fine.
Just think about kicking ED to hell and gone. Going to take a while longer longer though. And you have found this site to help you through it. Best of luck to you my soon to be bionic brother.

Re: Pain?
I had varying levels of pain and discomfort after surgery. I have a prostatectomy four years ago and it was a walk in the park in comparison to getting the implant. I was extremely active before the surgery but have not returned to my rigorous workout routine. I am 11 weeks post op and I still have infrequent discomfort and slight pain. It took me 9 weeks post op before I really didn't have regular discomfort.
As many of the other responders indicated, my pain did not require much medication after the first week or two. Getting accustomed to the pump in my scrotum and the occasional crinkle penile pain at night when I get up to urinate are the most noted current discomfort concerns. Also, cycling (inflating) daily for an hour has caused some significant pain.
Daily hot baths have been extremely helpful for me! Remember everyone is different.
Good luck!

Re: Pain?
Almost zero pain so far. Ask your doctor about getting a Nerve Block. My NB started wearing off late on day 3 but lasted almost 5 days. Didn't feel a thing. I have some tingles and soreness. As I expect with any cutting of tissues. I think my lack of pain is helped by being deflated since day 3. I'm a little nervous about length when I do start inflating. Time will tell. Seems every Doctor has their own time points on when to deflate and cycling.
Honestly, I've had root canals that hurt worse. Have used 2 Narc pills so far. 5mg oxy/325 Tylenol. trade name Percocet. that's a light dosage. pain was due to being too aggressive with moving the pump around on day 5 and 6. I'm day 12 now. No pain. Only 800mg ibuprofen every 8 hours.
Don't let your fears stop/stress you. Lots of things connected with this surgery will keep you up at night thinking/worry. Talk to your doctor. Pain management is part of his job.
Best of luck to you. Come back and update us on your Success.

Re: Pain?
No pain after implant surgery!
I had my penile implant in January if 2020. I had no pain at all after the surgery. I had swelling and bruising and that was about all. I used ice packs on my crotch for the swelling and bruising. I used the ice packs about 15 minutes on and 30 off with long breaks between. The ice packs helped my swelling subside much quicker. Would recommend using cold packs. My doctor did not recommend.

Re: Pain?
Thank you for the replies! I know injecting Trimax really hurts for me so I can only imagine some cylinder showed into my penis. My nerves are getting bad as the day gets closer but excited to have a erection again. The pain part is what’s really holding me back?!9
Re: Pain?
The worst I had was a dull ache. My shoulder injury hurt a lot worse. I took prescription pain pills for pain for about a day after my implant and then did not need them anymore.
Everyone is different though. Also the better your surgeon, the less trauma you go through. So theoretically, you should have less pain.
