Diabetics
I waa viewing another post and read about how some doctors dont like operating on diabetics because there is a higher risk of infection. After i started using viagra for a lengthy period of time it along with bad eating over the years prior caused me to become prediabetic. Soooo.......my question is, Are there any diabetics here with the three piece implant? And if so did you have any problems getting your device exchanged?

Re: Diabetics
I was diabetic for years before the implant. No problem.
Diabetics heal slower than "normal" people mostly because of damage or constriction of small blood vessels. If a diabetic has good control over his glucose that is a very small barrier to surgery. Virgin implant or revision.
As I recall, if my glucose had been over 200 the day of the surgery, surgery would have been postponed.

I was diabetic when I did my surgery (Type-2) and had just been taken off of Metformin (Glucophage) five months earlier due to a hospitalization for dehydration related rapid pulse and low blood pressure. I was only trying to control my glucose levels with diet at the time of surgery and still had Hemoglobin A1C numbers over 6, closer to 7 and fasting morning blood glucose levels over 100 (110-125).
I had no trouble getting my surgery or healing properly without infection.

Re: Diabetics
I'm type-2. No problem with the procedure or infection after.
Re: Diabetics
I do remember a member that was slow to heal. His A1C had been quite high at time of surgery. Mine runs under 7, usually close to 6.5/6.6. My surgeon said those numbers presented no problems.

I'm type 2 and take insulin.
As long as u have it controlled and a decent A1C the doctor should not have a problem.

41, married, diabetic (uncontrolled for a few years), pills did not work, injections did not work.
