Kind of hard to say. She examined me and did the stretch test and asked what length my erection was with the VED. I told her and she said she recommended the Titan due to the girth needed for that size erection. She said gave me the pros and cons and I was happy to choose the Titan. I had scar tissue from resolved Peyronies so that was another reason to use the Titan. My erection now is just under 7” and perfectly straight.

This is much bigger than before the procedure due to many years of ED.

Wow outstanding results!!!!!

Thank you. It sure did not look like this before the surgery. I had a scrotoplasty too which makes it look better, though it has taken longer to heal. If you would like, I can send a few other pics by private message.

As you can see in my profile, I’ve got an AMS LGX.

The first doc who was going to do me planned to use a Titan due to girth issues. However, there was a huge scheduling problem, he kind of gave me bad vibes in an e mail where I wanted to discuss sizing aggressively, so I ended up with a different surgeon.

The second surgeon, who I ultimately had do the procedure, actually recommended AMS. He didn’t refuse to install a Titan, but he told me why he preferred AMS, brought out examples of both, and said they were both good products but over time his patients had fared better long term with the AMS. He admitted that girth might be a little less (it is, but the difference is small) but said he really liked the length expansion of the LGX and so did most of his patients.

So yeah, I had him install an LGX. I’m happy with it. If I wear it out will I get another one or try a Titan? I don’t know. Right now, I’d say durability and reliability are important. If it requires replacement in 8-10 years, another LGX. If I had to have another one in 3 months, then I would have only gotten 18 months out of this so I might change simply to try the competition.

As some have noted I think this is a Titan-centric board sometimes, but I think the reasonable person would admit both are good, well made, reliable products. What I like most about this LGX is I seldom even think about it being an implant except when I want to use it....for whatever purpose. Sometimes I’ll pump it up at 2 pm with no sex in mind, I just want to remember what it was like to have constant erections at age 18. As a flaccid, it looks flaccid. Erect, it looks and feels erect. What more could you ask for?
Age 68. Physically fit educated red neck in Texas. Very married. 23 cm (18+5) of LGX installed by Dr. Bryan Kansas 12/31/2019. I fought the ED and my wife & I won. I’m either full of shit or sound advice. You decide which.

I really appreciate everything you mentioned in here is really informal and it give me ideas of what to expect hopefully this doctor is knowledgeable and really gives me opinions of what to do because I definitely do not want to lose any size like people say. I've never had an issue with getting erections is just maintaining it. I am excited, tierd of not being able to please her.

Regret nothing with either one. My only regret is that my doc on the revision would have used a titan. He only did ams.

Got a slight curve back with the ams. Titan is great for fixing peyronies.
18 cm plus 1 rte titan installed March 2019. Revision March 2020 by Dr. Andrew Todd, Richmond KY. He replaced the titan with an AMS 700 LGX 18 cm cylinder plus 2 rte for 20 cm total length.

How long did it take you from when you first decided to speak to the doctor about getting the procedure and how long did it take the insurance to approve and for the surgery to actually happen after it got approved

It really depends on a lot of things. A really good experienced doctor that does both brands and has your medical records is the best one to recommend which is best for you. There are reasons for the different devices. I am happy with the way my LGX works and had size loss from ED so it did help out with that. I do have a problem with mine and that needs to be fixed. A well known NY doctor and a well known GA doctor have both recommended a Titan or CX stating the 21cm LGX does have stability problems. My local guys that are very low volume (2-3 a year and do not do revisions) advised they would use what ever I wanted and were not willing to or able to advise me on what was best for me. I told my surgeon that I wanted either a Titan or an LGX and left the choice to him and he advised LGX so that was what I did. He is also an experienced well known doctor and I felt more knowledgeable about the device I should have. But it seems that my next one will be either a CX or Titan. 21cm is the longest LGX made and the CX and Titan are made in longer sizes. But the LGX has the ability to increase in length more than the CX or Titan.

If you trust your doctor enough to have him/her do the surgery I feel you should trust them to choose the correct device for you. Of course there are men who can have any of the devices and then it requires input from you. The LGX has a more natural flaccid and the Titan is close to or the same length flaccid as erect. The Titan has more girth. But the device will more than your body has. So the extra girth may or may not help a man. Same with the LGX length expansion. It may or may not restore some of the size loss from ED. With my LGX I am a shower now where I was a grower pre op. Titan guys are even more of a shower. But this is all a conversation I think you should have with your doctor.

Some doctors only do one brand of the other. My surgeon leans a bit to AMS and the NY doctor I had contact with leans more to a Titan. The GA doctor is really strong leaning for the Titan but would do another LGX if I insisted. So even the well known doctors in the country differ.

I hope this helps a bit. Good luck.

I decided I had finally had enough frustration about early October 2019.

I called my Urologist who does my TRT and ED meds. I told him I thought I was ready to go implant. He told me he thought it was time, and gave me the name of Doctor on staff who did IPP surgeries. I asked if he was any good. My regular urologist said he ought to be, he does quite a few (it’s a respected teaching hospital) and my regular urologist had taught him how.

I really like my regular urologist, he shoots straight, is in his mid-70s, and doesn’t do surgery anymore.

So I booked a consult, it took a week. Maybe 10 days to see him. We discussed options, I asked lots of questions, and he gave me his email to ask him anything else I thought of.

I was looking at a Feb 2020 surgery date.

In the meantime, my wife had a nasty bout with pneumonia in Nov 2019 which, in retrospect, really looked a lot like Covid. We hit our catastrophic cap for year. Anything I had done for rest of year would be paid 100% by insurance.

So I email doctor to discuss moving surgery earlier. Can’t do, schedule conflict. I ask about his sizing philosophy, told him I expected it to be aggressive but not stupid. It irritated him a bit and I got a lecture about the meaning of term aggressive in terms of surgery.

So by the end of November, I’m willing to look at other options. This is when I get a bit of luck. I called a Urologist/Implant Surgeon in a nearby big city who happens to be relatively high volume. Can’t get consult until February. They call me back at end of day, had cancellation for Dec 14. I’m getting hernia done on 17th. So I go see this guy. I liked him, he was honest with me, I told him about hernia repair on 17th Dec, ask if he can implant me before end of year. He schedules me for Dec 31st.

Happy New Year 2020 and I’m bionic.

No complaints or regrets, hospital and doctors billed $53K, the insurance paid and they accepted just under $18K. I got a bill for $2.84 for something. And they all lived happily ever after.

So in all it took less than 3 months and that included evaluating two different doctors.

The most important thing from an insurance perspective is the CPT code. I asked both what CPT code they would bill with (both were same) then called insurance carrier to make sure they would pay. Not only did they say they would pay, they told me that specific code didn’t even need a preauthorization before surgery .
