Well I am married and my wife is the only person that knows I have an implant, apart from the surgeon of course. We have decided to keep it personal for now as in our situation its no one elses business.
If I was single I really wouldn't care who knew.

Re: Explaining why you have an implant
Yeah, why be ashamed of an implant?
Why be ashamed of ED?
Why bother about ED?
If ED is not shameful, why didn't you tell all your pals, your relatives, your colleagues about your ED when it hit you?
Just like you would have told them about your eyesight getting worse, or getting arthritis.
Why did you feel like shit after your dick went down and your date found out you had ED, but not after she found out you had a tennis elbow?
If you don't think ED is shameful and embarrassing, if you don't think it is a big deal to tell people about ED, you are the exception rather than the rule.
So asking people why they need a story, is irrelevant. The interesting question is why you don't need one.
In my case, I have said many times that I think it is better to be upfront with the implant. Get in the driving seat.
Be strong and confident instead of hiding around in the bushes and getting caught.
Because there is no hiding. In my opinion, having creative and non restricted sex with someone will definitely involve a certain risk of that person noticing something unnatural.
And with that as a baseline, I think it is better to focus on maximizing the benefits of the implant than focusing on trying to minimize risk of detection.
But if I knew nobody would or could ever find out, would I tell my sex partners I had an implant?
No.
But since I know they might find out, I think it is better to stand tall and be proactive, than hiding in the shadows.
I think a part of that confident approach could be a white lie.
To me, it just feels better to say I got a mountain bike steering wheel in my crotch while going downhill, or I crashed while skiing in a black slope in the French alps, or I had a rough wake-board accident - or whatever - and after that I got some mild ED. Being who I am, I couldn't stand it, and I went for an implant. It is great, has its pros and cons, but I love the way I can go on forever.
It would feel worse to put it like: "I was more or less impotent for my whole life, and then after I got so depressed with failing in bed with women for so many times, I had to get a prosthesis in my lame crap dick to be able to make love".
It is just a way of maintaining, or even adding to, that confident approach.
It works for me, but for those who prefer other ways, go ahead. We're all different.

Re: Explaining why you have an implant
The principle reason I don't say anything about my E.D. and implant is that my girlfriend wants no advertising about it.
Before my implant, when sex began to come up as a possibility, I would simply say that my erections don't work as well as they should, but that I would try every means at my disposal to please my partner.
I never had anyone back out of sex because of that revelation.
I believe it is better to get ahead of any discoveries. Hiding any truths about oneself is a recipe for relationship failure. Whether a "cover story" about how I lost my erections is advisable is up to each individual, and for each relationship. One-night stands are different from multi-dimensional relationships that you expect to go on for any length of time.
Some men might worry about being talked about. Speculation about his sexuality (or lack thereof). Reputation as a "whole" man. Perhaps this being said of him, "He can't get it up naturally, but needs to pump his balls to get an erection."

Re: Explaining why you have an implant
If in the future other people found out that I had an implant the honest answer in explanation of why I have an implant is I don't honestly know. Obviously I suffer from ED, bad pre prostate removal and total after. Not a hint of an erection. The VED worked but had limitations and was not always successful.
I suspect that the possible cause of my ED was competitive cycling, which I did for many years and always had the numb genitals effect when out riding. Different saddles and saddle positions etc did not make any difference, I could not avoid it. Is this the possible cause I dont know.
I wonder how many other men really know what caused there ED?
As for now, post implant I would much rather people knew I had an implant than the fact that I had been totally impotent. The implant has made me feel good about myself again, a whole man so to speak and I am rapt in it.

Re: Explaining why you have an implant
The other night, went to dinner with some of my buddy's family. We got to talking about hearing aids, cost, blah, blah, blah. Guy is former military, he is about 76 y/o. Kept harping about how technology has come a long way with Cochlear implants, wireless hearing aids etc. Cost is way down, etc.
I whispered to my friend "should I tell them about my bionic dick"? He about lost it right then and there with a stern 'NO'! I asked him 'why', because it good example of technology advancing:)!
His niece over heard me whisper in his ear about my bionic dick, and she said "I heard what you said to him", without batting an eye. I just looked at her...She was there after my 1st unsuccessful surgery and I told her, so I guess she remembered:)! Her Border Collie is a medium sized dog and was protective of me that 1st surgery. After that, his paw landed on my dick after the 3rd surgery...so much for that instinct, lol.
She just became engaged, so I am thinking of letting both her and her fiance' know, just in case he needs it in the future, lol. Him and I are the same age. She is in her late 30s. Its great for longer times of intimacy:)! Its a win-win for both of them in their later years!
It has taken me a while to get used to my diminished size, but have learned to live with it, and next revision, hopefully can get some length put back on.

Re: Explaining why you have an implant
I had the implant on a Thursday and was back at work on Monday.....albeit light duty. My dick was not wrapped at all, no drain tube and after a few hours no catheter. I and my wife did not want to tell the world all about our sex life so my story (I'm 72) is that I was having some minor trouble urinating and the doc did an outpatient prostate procedure. One daughter is a nurse and she googled prostate procedures and said is it this one where they put a balloon in and stretch things out......well yes dear daughter things did get somewhat stretched. End of questions. People just ask "how did the prostate surgery go?" fine, no cancer, can piss just fine now. It's been 90 days now and the bionics work just fine.
Implant 1/28/2021. Dr Stephen A Johnson. Done at Baylor, Scott and White in Sherman, Texas. TRT since 2005, serious ED from 2004. Used nearly all PDE5 drugs. Injections failed. Started cycling at 1 week. Cycle most days. AMS 700 CX 23cm, 100ml reservoir.
Re: Explaining why you have an implant
Every partner I have had since I got an implant was amazed that it got so hard and it lasted forever. It was a great conversation piece. So, you don’t have to say anything. I got PD after a biking accident. Push forward, implant fixed all of that. Not one partner has ever questioned why . Most are amazed how it works and no complaints. As for what to tell family and co workers while you are laid up. Tell them hernia. It’s works, inguinal hernia explains all the recovery they need to know. Considering that some hernias are not a problem until they are. So there you go. Hernia and mesh. That’s 2 weeks out of work. Same as the implant.
By the way, flirting about packing a ipp with some partners is a great way to hookup. But if you are in a relationship or starting one. The IPP is not going to hurt anything.

Re: Explaining why you have an implant
Told my family it was a growth on a testicle removed when I had the implant done. That's all my nosey son in law had to hear when I started to tell him how doc pulled my nut out of my sack and cut the growth off. He cringed, turned white and said I've heard enough. LOL

Re: Explaining why you have an implant
Well falling on a 2 by 8 did it for me. Funny thing is. I was laid up longer and bruised worse from the fall than either implant surgeries. I spent a month after my fall walking funny or stretched out flat. I was bruised black from my knees to my waste. Numb. And did well to pee.
Still is sad my first uro said that the fall would not cause ed in any way, shape, or form. I saw him after my fall and after about 90 days of seeing him, I let him know I no longer got an erection.
He just said. Your old. Take viagra. Thst will do it. That caused my peyronies. I never really got hard enough for sex. He said just take more. Not one test. He knew I stayed tired as well. After about 9 months or so. He finally checked my testosterone. It was 35. I had none. No longer producing testosterone myself.
So pretty much all my issues I can trace to dropping about 3 feet straight down on a 2 by 8. So did it or not. Who knows but it looks that way to me.

Your experience just proves that all urologists are not competent. "Just take this Viagra". Yea, right dude.
More proof that surgeon selection is important to good implant results.
