Scheduled for implant in less then a week and kind of scared
Scheduled to have an implant in less then a week and scared on what to expect. I've read up on so much about implants and had many appts with urologist leading up to. Could men of all ages please tell me how much pain to expect post op and for how long. Also does anyone regret having it done? I have been to Dr Eid in New York years ago and was very pleased with the visit. He took measurements while erect from an injection for what size implant I would need but he is not the one doing my surgery. A urologist is doing my surgery and he did not take any measurements so should I be concerned with that at all? I would appreciate alot of feed back to try to feel more comfortable about my decision to get an implant

Hey, I dig the username!
Regarding pain, in my experience it ranged from a 3-6 out of 10. The post-op pain wasn't too bad for me, and was pretty easily controlled with the pain meds. There were only a couple of times in the recovery where the pain hit that high point of 6 (and that really is very painful), but they passed quickly. Make sure to talk with your doc about what meds you can take. Ibuprofen was allowed alongside my narcotic pain meds, and I ended up using that primarily, and only adding the narcotics when needed. Pain-wise, this isn't a terrible surgery...It took me about 4-6 months to be free of any discomfort, most of that being very mild.
As far as measurements go, the procedure includes inducing an artificial erection by pumping saline into the penis. That, along with a tool that physically measures the internal dimensions of your penis, will be how the tubes are selected by any doctor that is experienced with these operations.
I'm sure some people have regretted the operation, but you will find very very few people who do. I don't regret mine, and the vast majority here don't regret theirs. It's not a perfect solution. I miss my old penis (the flaccid was much nicer to deal with). But I don't miss the complete lack of erections I had, and the Titan is a beast. A very fun, reliable beast.
Best of luck to you and keep your spirits high!

The only measurement that means anything is the one the doctor makes during surgery. Measurements in the office or before surgery are just an estimate. As they cannot measure your Crus or the part inside your body there is very little useful information other than reducing the #1 complaint of size loss after surgery. My first well-known surgeon did not take measurements. Nor did my local uro. Both just did a gentle pull and said that would be it but no measurement was taken and I ended up with a quite a bit more. So this would not be a reason to worry about your doctor.
As far as pain I guess it depends on the person. You need to help yourself on this. After surgery in the hospital stay as flat as possible for at least 3 days and use cold packs. Ask for them as soon as you can in recovery. This will help with swelling, pain, and urination. Continue this for at least 3 days. I do not like pain meds or anesthesia I had my repair 3 days ago and only took pain pills for the 3 hour ride home from the hospital. My first surgery I spent the night in the hospital and only took Tylenol for the ride the next morning to my hotel room. Both were very uncomfortable. My first I used Tylenol and Motrin for pain and swelling. The second just Tylenol. The first I just took pain meds for my flight back home and they did not work until I was walking into my house. Again it was not fun or comfortable. But the side effects of pain meds would have been just as bad. This can vary a lot and depends on the man, any extra work that needs to be done, and the skill of the surgeon. But cold packs and laying as flat as you can from the minute you come out of surgery and the first 3 days is the most helpful. And if you can take pain meds do so and keep up with them and you should be fine.
Best of luck going forward with this.

I forgot to say welcome to the site. And no I do not regret doing this in any way. Kicking ED's butt was the best choice I ever made.

So the short answer is yes--but because of a few things.
First, my penis was wrapped and I couldn't point it down. I quickly soaked the wrappings when I went while still in the recovery area and had to change them. Get and use a handheld urinal for this--problem solved. My surgery center sent me home with one. You are going to feel very awkward doing something you have been doing without thinking since early childhood.
Second, I was sore for a couple days from having a catheter during surgery. It made peeing uncomfortable, but got better quickly. There is a specific medication for controlling pain in the urinary tract, Phenazopyridine, I used it when going through radiation treatment for prostate cancer. Ask your doctor about it. I wish I had remembered that it was available. There is an over the counter version--but again, do not take anything without consulting your doctor.
Third, I did not poop for two days. Don't force it, let it happen naturally--it felt very relieving when it happened and it was worth the wait.

Good Luck on your surgery. I am three weeks post-op from a full revision. My pain level has never gotten bad at all..Maybe a 3 (1-10). Depends on the doctor. I took one pain pill right after surgery for the 5 hour ride home and one when I got home and thats all I took except for some over the counter meds. I never regretted getting my implants through the years!!! Be sure to ask for the nurse to use LOTS of lube for the cath. I did not have any trouble on the past two surgeries when I requested that. You will piss a little lube for a day or two but no pain.

If you ask your surgeon to describe (in detail) how he measures your penis and determines the size of implant to use, you should be assured.

So you mean when you are anesthetized they give you a full erection and then measure your size? I was always thinking that they stretched the flaccid and then dialate and measures.

Things differ a lot from doctor to doctor. I sent you a Private Message with my phone number. Give me a call and I will be able to explain it in more detail. There will be a lot more questions you have and as you are close this would be more time appropriate.
