Pharmacy Rep said NO FREEZER

Postby BoneBack » Wed May 19, 2021 1:13 pm

I've been buying Trimix for almost 5 months now and I've always taken a vial, placed it in the fridge and placed the rest in the freezer. The pharmacy I used was in Texas. I just moved to Kansas and just purchased some Trimix from a local pharmacy. The lady is gonna mail it to me. She told me that she will place a cold pack in the package. She said on the phone that it last 2 months at room temperature and 3 months in the fridge. I then asked her how long it last in the freezer and she said DON'T PUT IT IN THE FREEZER BECAUSE IT WILL CRYSTALIZE AND THEN IT WILL BE NO GOOD.

I'm confused now because I've always been told to place unused Trimix in the freezer so it will stay good longer. Are they using some new method with making it or something that causes it to not be in the freezer? Was she wrong? Does she just want the Trimix to spoil sooner so I'll buy more? What's the deal?

I am on my third order of trimix. I get 4 each 2.5ml vials per order. I ALWAYS, FOR OVER TWO YEARS NOW, put one in the fridge along with a few preloaded syringes and have kept the remainder vials in the freezer and I have NEVER had a vial go bad. Yes, the trimix becomes like ice in the vial, but I just put it in the fridge with the syringes overnight and the next day it is a liquid again.

I truly think you will get, for the most part, better information on this forum than from a lot of so called "professionals". Case in fact, I asked my URO about giving myself testosterone injections in the theigh vice in the butt. She said they had to be given in the hip/butt. Yet, tons of people give themselves their TST injections in the thiegh and have no issues. I was looking at this option so I wouldn't have to go into their office every two weeks to get jabbed in the ass. So, those who profess to know all do not necessarly know all!

As a pharmacy technician I’ve been asked similar questions before. Several factors involved when a product is compounded. Different manufacturers of the components can have different storage requirements. Being among the first.

As well as often times non standard compounds are not studied under different conditions every thing from syringes to needles number of times a vial is entered can affect the storage. Compounding pharmacies are highly regulated, and inspected.

Often people do things that a pharmacy can’t recommend. Given that freeze thaw has become an issue with several of our medications that we can no longer get certain medication that we used to get frozen. Crystals can be so tiny they can’t be seen with the naked eye but can cause a lot of damage to capillaries.

A case in point one of the leading manufacturers of syringes says we can’t store medications in the syringe longer than 24 hours but my pharmacy has pre-filled syringes of medications using what appears to be the same syringe as what we are told we can’t use anymore, that puts us in the legal position of saying we can’t recommend it.

Could the person want you to buy more possibly, but they also may be concerned about sterility or break down of the drug or drugs. Or what various state and federal laws allow. Freezing only slows breakdown it doesn’t stop it completely.

You could contact your previous pharmacy as they may have done things differently so you could freeze it. Given overnight express delivery just about anywhere in the US can get it to you if you are willing to pay for shipping

I'm very interested in this. Right now I'm basically terrified each time i inject trying to hope the injection will work.
This is the only study i could find on it: https://ijpc.com/abstracts/abstract.cfm?ABS=1799

Seems to suggest freezing is generally safe. I'd assume as long as it has plenty of time to thaw out.

Have used PGE-1 for about 5 years now. Keep it stored in the fridge. It lasts for a year or more.

Honestly, I'm surprised that someone advised you to keep it in the freezer. I also know that such temperature changes negatively affect medicines. Therefore, storage and conditions are always indicated on the packaging. Better consult a specialist who knows well about it. You can ask for help here https://www.prescriptiondoctor.com. This company offers online consultation according to the treatment you need. Their doctor can ask your questions and maybe advised some other medicine and better drugs available in your area. They can also write a prescription if necessary to arrange delivery within 1 day.

Lots of people seem to freeze their injectables with no ill effects.

I tried freezing syringes of Trimix (my mix was very strong) and ot precipitated in the syringes and was unusable.

Give it a shot based on what your MD says.

The label on my alprostadil (PGE1) mono-mix at 80mcg per ml says to freeze it and gives expiration times for refrigerated and frozen with the frozen expiration being much longer. I've used frozen mono-mix that was almost a year old and it worked fine as far as I know. At least my dick hasn't fallen off yet.

As I posted above, there are way to many posts of people who freeze their juices with absolutely no issues or problems to indicate it should not be done! I have been doing it for over 3 years now and absolutely no problems, the last vial and last syringe load works as good as the first vial and first syringe load. I get 4 each 2.5ml vials of Trimix per order. I am now using my 4th order, vial #2 with two in the freezer.

Just because someone tells you that you can't put it in the freezer does not necessairly mean what they say it correct. They are telling you only what they were told or instructed. Personally, I trust, for the most part, what I read on this forum by long time members and users.
