Hi,
I was alone in NY for the surgery so it is definitely manageable. With that said here are some tips from my experience:

1) Drink plenty of fluids after surgery to flush out the antibiotics and anesthesia
2) If you have a catheter, empty the bag evey time you wake up
3) BE CAREFUL walking around on any pain meds like hydro-cordone.
4) Be sure to take pain meds on a full stomach
5) Don’t strain going to the bathroom; Milk of Magnesia is a must have and very easy on the stomach
6) Ice frequently. I like the Mueller ice bag on Amazon—it never once got wet.
7) Buy a second jock strap
8) Check your penis when you wake up and then LEAVE IT ALONE. ;-)

Best of luck to you!

I used a 9 oz anal douche bulb with warm water (not cold tap, nor too hot) as needed to help soften, lubricate and add pressure down there for easier evacuation. It worked well and I was more comfortable during the first couple of weeks when it was painful to push.

Good choice! You cannot drive afterwards had my son pick me up. Also for the first week or so naked is your best friend. So if you have kids around you need a do not disturb sign. I just lounged on a mattress in front of the TV, cooler of ice by my side. You may want to ask your doctor to close using surgical glue. That way you can bathe immediately instead of only fast showers. Expect it to take months for your beefy look to return and you'll do fine.

You can totally manage on you own. For me who is technically a quad, did just fine. I just got implanted on the 12th. Best of luck!
