Hi Griffin, I'm in the UK too - South Yorkshire.
The Urologist I last went to see told me that if I went for an implant the erect length would only equal my current flaccid length.
This is not what I've understood from looking through this forum so I'm not convinced he would be the correct surgeon.

So you can can get an implant on the NHS fully paid for? I'm quite frankly amazed, you can't even get a VED on the NHS! (unless you've had prostrate surgery)

Definitely the size won't be the one of your flaccid state.
Most of the guys here recover their pre-op size lenght, but it is likely you'll lose 0.25/0.5 inches or so...

Go for an high volume surgeon

I will be unkind in this post (and rant) because I see a surgeon who is, at best, unsure of himself and more likely, incompetent to perform implant surgeries.

The only reason I can see, absent actual structural damage to the penis, for losing erect length is excessive caution of the surgeon. The reason for that, I will guess is that the surgeon is afraid that the implant will stress the tunica to the point of injury (erosion). This is ridiculous. The implant, properly sized, does not stress/stretch the tunica any more than the corporosum tissues did when the penis was able to erect itself.

To put an implant in a man that matches his flaccid size is nothing short of gross malpractice. (In the absence of other, radical medical issues which are fairly rare.)

I vehemently oppose the practice of medicine wherein the practitioner does not know what he or she is doing.

So glad to see you boys taking the bull by the horns and not taking no for an answer. I agree most guys on here seem to regain most if not all of their pre-op length after a month or two of cycling. And IMHO an average length perpetually rock hard c*** beats a noodly unreliable 9 incher any day of the week

I'd be a little worried if my urologist said that. Mine calmly said 'you will have what you have now... Maybe little bit more' (Dr Bazo, Nottingham city) I'm fully assuming he meant erect
Incase you didn't know, you can request to have your implant done elsewhere. The highest volume implant hospitals in England are London (Dr Ralph's team) Leicester and Nottingham in that order.
My man said he wouldn't be offended if I chose to go elsewhere but he's straight to the point and has agreed that I need an implant with no messing so at this time I'll be staying with him.

My VED cost £200 and that was the cheapest option on my prescription but yes, the implant is fully funded on our NHS although it may not be as easy to get one as it sounds in some areas from what I've read.

As always I agree with Lost sheep.

I've got to return in July for a Caverject shot to 'see what they are dealing with' and talk to their councillor. I'd better choose my words carefully with that one.
As my straight talking urologist said... You need to understand if you don't like your implant or something goes wrong your fucked! I think he was just trying to get the point across that this decision is a final one and I respect that.

Good luck mate and don't take no for an answer. I've had to pester my urology dpt many times when they try and fob me off with telephone appointments six months apart! To me, this is mega important and at very least deserves face to face. I might add that he made it clear the NHS isn't allowing implant surgery atm but I've read this is being reviewed over the next couple of months and I'm feeling positive. We have to be.

I’ve sent you a PM as I’ve a NHS urology appointment in a few hours and was wondering what’s the keywords and phrases to use to get down the implant route.

The last time I got to speak to the surgeon he was very dismissive.

I was also told that since when I went in last time to try Vitaros and that it didn’t work at all, Caverjet injections were not an option as contained the same active ingredient. alprostadil

I see most guys get a shot of caverjet by the implant surgeon beforehand to measure the correct unit to fit. Where does that leave me if they can’t use alprostadil?

There is Is an alternative to Caverject called Invicorp which does not contain Aprostadil. It was offered to me at Northampton Urology when Caverject had become less effective. However, I had decided that I wanted an implant and was then referred to Mr Summerton at Leicester who carried out my surgery a few months later.

I have no particular advice on what to say when you see your specialist although I had no test injection perhaps because I was already using injections and have diabetes (type 2) so ED is a very common consequence. I would recommend stressing how important continued sexual activity is to you. I was 74 years old when I saw my specialist and some people assume that for men of my age sex is no longer important. In my case that was not true and now 2 years later with an implant my wife and I still enjoy regular intercourse 2 or 3 times a week.
My experience was that my implant was not undersized (the tips are 3/4 into my glans when inflated) but I did lose about 1/2 AN inch in length but no change in girth. I would have preferred an LGX instead of a CX in the hope of more length but Mr Summerton only uses the CX which he believes are more reliable. Nevertheless, I have an implant that works perfectly and is as rigid as anyone could want.
