Thanks for the input Wunhunglo. Yes, I read your post and was a little concerned by the (atleast initial) loss following imolant. Fingers crossed you'll get atleast some of the loss back over the coming months. That does seem to be the trend.

I note that prior to your implant you injected for many years. Did you gain some girth while injectng over and above your natural size? I only ask because I remember reading another member talking about losing a lot of girth following an implant. But this only took him back to his pre-injecting size (he had gained around an inch in girth during over a decade of injecting). Maybe there is something about girth gained chemically from injecting that cannot be retained with an implant. Just a musing but wonder if any of this rings true for you?

I didn’t use injections to have sex—only for the size test and doppler.

My apologies Wunhunglo, not sure where I got the idea you were a long time injector from..

I just got implanted on Friday in the reason I went for it was because I was not going to be planning on when to have sex, I did injections but only work twice since I wasn't so good at injecting them and pill didn't work anymore

Whether your insurance carrier or medical care provider will require you to exhaust all options before implant will depend on their rules and requirements.

With my provider, I had done sufficient research that my primary care physician told me that I knew more about E.D. and its treatments than he did. That may have gone a long way to smoothing the pathway to authorization for implant. Or it might have been the policy of my provider. I don't know and did not ask.

Toby799 wrote:Hi all, so I have surgery booked for this Friday to have a Coloplast Titan implant fitted in the UK. I was sure it was the right thing to do but I'm now getting some doubts, which is spinning me into a pretty anxious state. I thought I would share a little about my situation, rationale for getting the implant and the concerns that suddenly seem to be looming large for me. I'd be really grateful to receive anybody's 2 cents worth, although I know ultimately, it's got to be my decision.

So, my background; I'm 41, in quite good shape, good health, single. I've had some degree of erectile dysfunction since I was 21, starting after I wore a cock ring for too long. This has been pretty well managed for most of this time with tablets and (sensible) use of a cock ring, but the tablets have stopped working over the last 3-4 years. I've started injecting for the last year, which initially didn't work until I tried 'invicorp' an option better for venous leakage which is my issue. With a cock ring I can get a pretty decent erection using invicorp and cialis, not completely rigid, bit of a bend, not as firm as days gone by but good enough for sex.

I've also done quite a bit of 'penis enlargement' over the years- jelquing, pumping and have added about an inch in length and close to an inch in girth. I'm 7 inches long and 6 inches round mid shaft (thinner below the glans and thicker at the base).

My rationale for getting the implant was based upon a number of factors. I don't like the lack of spontaneity with injections. Although I'm not in a relationship, I can imagine this would have a big impact on a couples sex life. Also, once I'm injected I'm left with a somewhat hard penis for several hours afterwards that needs concealing. This obviously impacts on any plans after sex. No before work fun, before going out etc etc. Again, an issue that I can imagine would distort and take a lot of the fun/spontaneity out of a couples love life. Currently I worry a fair bit about deterioration of my penile tissues over time with poor nocturnal erections and injecting over years. Getting an implant now before the rot sets in seems like the best option along with the reality that my erectile dysfunction is progressive and I'm going to end up with one at some point, so why not now..

So that has been where my head has been at for most of the time I've been patiently waiting for the op. Suddenly though, I'm questioning things. I mean, I CAN get an erection, albeit with all the scaffolding (tablets, injection and cock ring) and irritating issues described above. My main concern (as is the case for many men I guess) is not knowing what my erection is going to be like after the surgery. I probably have more of a slightly neurotic preoccupation with my size than most, having done all the penis enlargement and I do like my size. If it turns out to be a lot smaller I don't know how I'll feel. I've read quite a few people talking about quite significant girth losses of half to an inch and also having quite a 'flat' shape, while others have not run into these issues. I'm def more of a grower and when things are cold, my little man can shrivel up pretty small. I'm worried that a lack of actual tissue (it expands a lot with blood) might make me more prone to these issues.

So this is all the stuff that's whirring round in my head right now. As I say, I don't expect anyone to be able to categorically tell me what to do but if anybody has any thoughts I'd be really grateful. Especially from guys for whom injections were still working when you took the plunge. Are you glad you did or do you now regret it?

Hi Toby,
I got my implant 9 weeks ago,I didn't lose size, it looks better than before. I am not a grower anymore and during cold weather my penis doesn't get small like before. I am having the best time of my life with my implant, I took the pills and I did the injections but everything stopped working. If I'd known about implants at your age, I definitely would have gotten one.
You are young, healthy, you said that you have done several methods of penis enlargement, it means your penis's corpus cavernosum has a lot elasticity, an experienced good surgeon will put the max size implant for you. You will keep your side and cycling to the max, eventually you will get more length and girth.
I wish the best for you.

Toby799,

Fully inflated, but not aroused, I'm 6 1/2" long and the same around.

I never tried injections--they aren't covered by insurance. A doctor I saw 10+ years ago had me try Muse, which is inserted into the tip of the penis. I found that very painful.

What would I think if my implanted hard on was noticeably smaller than before? I'm not sure. That hasn't been my experience. But for most of nearly 20 years of having ED, my hard on has been fair at best--in my 30's when I was first using meds. And for the last several years before my surgery, it has downright sucked.

I went into the surgery with a good measure of confidence in my doctor. He has a gold star rating from Coloplast. He does 5 to 9 implant surgeries per month. He has authored or co-authored several articles on implant surgery. The revisions he does of his surgeries are because patients don't follow post-op instructions, not because of his mistakes.

Assuming you have an experienced, competent doctor, if I were you, I would feel confident about what the outcome of implant surgery will be.

Hey guys, thanks to everyone who has replied, I'm really very grateful and it's made a big difference to settling my jitters. I'm in a much better place today and over the anxiety hump I think. I'm sure I'll be nervous as the day draws ever closer but the comfort with the decision feels locked in. Phew! Thanks again! I'll keep you posted with how it all goes! X

As the third erectile body on the bottom of our penis around the urethra is not damaged by cylinder placement then I would think that as some have posted that oral meds will help with this and maybe glans engorgement. I do not have any personal experience with this only what I have read on this site.

So... Sitting in the recovery room now. Quite sore, but everything seems to have gone fine. Everything is wrapped up so can't really see what it looks like but first impressions are that the length is very similar to what I had before. Everybody has been super supportive and kind here at the Ucl hospital in the UK.

Had a little scare before hand when one of the Surgeons came and did the stretch test on me and barely stretched beyond my flaccid length- like 4.5 inches or so 'this is realistic' she said and then when I challenged her showing just how much more my penis could in fact stretch she launched into a lot of non-sensical talk about how the penis might stretch less in surgery! Arrrrh! It was a proper freak out moment, all the research and expectations out the window and staring down the barrel of a 2 inch length loss. But I demanded to see Prof. Ralph and he stretched me out properly, 6-7 inches. Thank God it was him and not the other surgeon actually doing the op! :)

So, so far so good! Main concern atm is that I really need a wee but my catheter isn't draining :(I'm told it will when the pressure build up enough).

Asked about the post op protocol. Apparently they deflate tomorrow and then I come back in 3 weeks to begin cycling. Was disappointed l to hear that they don't recommend cycling really early, like day 3 as they do with the top Surgeons in the states, but guess that's OK? What do you guys reckon? Will waiting 3 weeks before cycling make a significant difference to the overall result?

You might want to reach out to Biker21 (again - I see you posted to his thread before) ( viewtopic.php?f=6&t=17086 ) who has concerns about post-op length. Your experience/observations after your operation, especially the differing opinions of different surgeons would be valuable to him.
