Pump not working
Re: Pump not working
This is one thing that haunts us all. The device is covered by warranty for replacement or reimbursement of the price of the device but the surgery is not included in the warranty and each subsequent revision will require surgery costs associated with the replacement, above the cost of the implant (including doctor, anesthesiologist, hospital costs, etc.) Most insurance companies that cover IPP installations should also cover the revision surgery. If you were cash-pay though, you may be on your own so try to find a surgeon who not only does revisions but has some sort of cash special pricing and maybe a payment plan.

Re: Pump not working
Apparently BSC revised their warranty in 2018. It now states 1 year. I have TV's with longer warranty. If I remember correctly, the bill was about $60K.
The insurance was billed about $20K. The doctor's bill was $5K. The biggest expense was the hospital. My out of pocket was around $5K.
In addition, the time lost from work and the pain and discomfort. I calculated that each time I pumped it up cost $25.
I guess it is like any other business, the part is covered but not the labor. However, in this case the implant is out of warranty. I am not sure if the insurance will cover again.
I will try to get the Doctor involve and see if anything can be done. As of right now, very disappointed with Boston Scientific and the AMS 700.

Re: Pump not working
If it is just the pump then that is all that would need to be replaced. So it should cost less total and be a shorter recovery. They would leave your current reservoir, and cylinders.
Sorry for your problem and I wish you good luck with this going forward.

Wish it was that simple. Doctor said since he doesn't know where the leak is occurring, best replace the entire implant.

Who were you implanted by?
31. Jelq-HF in 2017. Has continued to get worse. 5mg daily cialis, 10mg on demand. Considering other options.

What did your research on him tell you? I searched FT & only found your post with his name. That might imply that he is a part time implanter. Did you ask who he studied under or how many implants he does?
As for getting satisfaction. You might still be a bit early to tell what your final results will be. I would offer the suggestion to when the time comes. Whine & beg your implant manufacturer for some assistance. I doubt that you'll get much traction trying to get the hospital fees waived. The cost of the implant might be the best that you can get. Even the doctor. If he smells a lawsuit? He'll clam up & quit talking to you. Likely passing you on to his attorney. They aren't fun to talk to.
Hope I'm wrong but hospitals only provide facilities. They won't see where they did anything wrong & it'll be tough to prove they did do anything wrong.
Best of luck going forward.

He is well respected and one of the top in OKC. He is also recommended by Boston Scientific as "Preferred".
I don't believe the Doctor is the issue. The complain is premature failure of the implant!
BS should step up and accept responsibility for the failure of their product. I wonder how many other
patients have had issues with BS implants.

Re: Pump not working
You might want to sniff around to see if your pump has a recall on it. Maybe check with the FDA for an independent source of info.
Btw, sometimes getting a manufacturers rating doesn't mean much & easy for them to get.
Again, I know it doesn't get you far but I do wish you good luck.
