Thanks for the feedback.
Visited Doc today. Incision will be infrapubic. I hope that will hasten healing.
I have been considering this for 3 years. It is time.

Re: AMS Ambicore Experience
Hey Pitmann,
Good luck with your implant!
Are you sure the approach will be infrapubic? I see in Boston Scientific website that Ambicor is only available as Penoscrotal.
https://www.bostonscientific.com/en-US/ ... hesis.html
Besides, it makes sense that the surgeon will keep away from the area above the penis.

He did allow for the possibility, but indicated a desire for infrapubic, which would be my hope. I will be asleep, so I guess the decision will be made then.
48 hours to go after a years long wait. I'm still apprehensive. But it is a done deal.

Yes. I know. Waiting is the real pain. You will be very happy with it .

Re: AMS Ambicore Experience
Well...I joined the bionic brotherhood this morning.
The doctor, as one of you suggested, chose to do the implant through a scrotal incision. This was to insure no possible encounter with the bypass I referenced in a earlier post.
Of course, this caused significant swelling in my testicles. About baseball size. I am interested in knowing from you all if this is normal? Or any cause for concern. Keeping ice on pretty much all the time.
No catheter, nor drain. Told to remove bandages and shower in 2 days. No followup appointment for 2 weeks.
Thanks in advance. Everyone on this forum has contributed to my journey and decisions.
It was done at the best hospital in this area (Baylor, Scott, and White in Plano, Texas) by Dr Michael Wierschem.
The staff at BSW are just off the chart great.

Re: AMS Ambicore Experience
Congrats for joining the bionic world!
After my surgery, I didn't see a catheter, but there was a drain near the reservoir incision. I had infrapubic, not sure if the guys with penoscrotal. Installing the the Ambicore is way easier than other 3-piece implants. I believe you will recover quickly. Keep on icing and heating. All the best!

Pain hasn't been a huge issue, but the swelling is bothersome. Using mainly cold with ice packs since yesterday. I will start switching between them tomorrow.
Another concern is the whether the stitches can withstand the swelling. Less blood in my urine today, but difficult to pee.
I have not unwrapped the bandaging yet. Doc told me to do so Friday, and shower. I may wait until Saturday, when I finally gross myself out.
Any advice from anyone on anything is greatly appreciated.

Re: AMS Ambicore Experience
Hey pitmanm, another local guy! I had mine in October 2019 at BSW in Frisco by Mark Allen (also a Plano uro/surgeon).
Congrats and welcome to the brotherhood.
By the way, another reason I could see doing the Ambicore by penoscrotal is that it can be installed as a single sealed unit that way without having to connect any tubing together. Makes for an easier installation because there's no priming the pump, bleeding the bubbles from the lines or anything like that.
Probably makes for a more trouble-free device too since there are no interconnects to fail.

Thanks Wayne. I had considered Dr Leroy Jones in SA, but lost my job May 2020 due to Covid. I retired to Lake Texoma. I found myself widowed in 2018. I got really tired of the "talk" with potential partners. And to their credit, none of the women were negative, but I had to get the permanent fix.
Also, I found that I was not nervous at all yesterday. In 2002, emergency surgery caused my testicles swell up to grapefruit size. It took 4 days for a return to normal. I thought that this couldn't be worse, and this was to gain function.
Pain has not been overwhelming, but the swelling is very awkward. I hope to see improvement by Monday. I have to fly to Pittsburgh on July 1st for my only sons wedding, so I'm focused on the right things to do.
Thanks for the checkin and feedback.
