question on pumping

Postby axyman8888 » Sat Jan 12, 2013 1:27 pm

hello all,

I'm 26 had a titan otr (22cm with 2 of the 1 cm extenders or wtv their called) implanted by dr eid 9 weeks ago(well it'll 9 on Monday). like everyone else I've seen here, I'd highly recommend going to him or ond of the other select few surgeons as I don't know why anyone would put themselves at higher risk of complications by going to a doctor with less experience. So anyways, yeah I'm one of the younger people to get this done... but it was either that or go sexless for the rest of my life.

So far I'm doing well but wasn't able to start pumping until earlier this week. I wonder if I'm healing slower because he had to go back in for the 1 cm tips?

ok but now my real question... can I inflate/deflate, while I'm in the hottub? I'm so happy with the erection when the doctor pumped it but I can't get it there yet and want to Make sure I max pump each day atleast once if not twice. any advice would be greatly appreciated...

p.s.
even though I think it's so unfair that I've had to deal with this since I aas 20... I feel fortunate that I was able to find this site and a great doctor.

Depends ... did your URO give you clearance to go into the Hot tub? They usually have you wait a while so as not to get the incision infected. What did your URO advise on when you can start pumping? In the beginning it's not so much the pumping ... but you need to make sure you can press the deflate button before you attempt pumping.

Once you are able to start pumping ... yes twice a day (1 hr. each session) is usually the best way to get the results you want ...

Good luck and keep us posted on your progress ...

I didn't start pumping until 7 weeks after my surgery. From what I have read here there is a wide variation in how fast guys heal up. I suggest you just "listen" to your body and do what it seems to need (and what your doc tells you to do.) If you get to a good result in the end it does not matter much how many weeks it took you to get there.

I have been pumping in my hot tub and it works fine. I also started soaking in my hot tub as soon as my doc okayed it, which was either one week or three weeks after my surgery. I did that in hopes it would speed my healing. My doc had sealed my incision with dermabond (like crazy glue), so there was no problem of bad things happening to the incision from the hot tub. Before I started pumping I used the time in the hot tub to feel my pump to identify the parts. I found it easier to do in the hot tub because my testicles floated up out of the way, leaving the pump where I could easily feel it.

When my doc okayed me for pumping 7 weeks after surgery, I started pumping in my hot tub. Again, it was easier to feel the pump parts when in the hot tub. The only problem with that was that when I wanted to use the pump for sex, I did not want to pump up in the hot tub as I use bromine for disinfectant and that leaves me with an odor so I have to shower off afterwards and I did not want to add all that to a sexual encounter. But then when I pumped outside the hot tub I had some difficulty doing it because it was a bit more difficult to feel the pump without the benefits of the hot tub floating the testicles out of the way. So I would suggest you pump in the hot tub but also pump out of the hot tub so you get that experience for when you really want to use it for sex. Having to say "honey hang on, I can't get this damn pump to work right" is not conducive to good sex. :)

Best wishes for your a lot of enjoyment from your new bionic capability.

I had my implant done by Dr. Eid and he is one of the best. I believe he recommended the bathtub for faster healing. Also pumping in the tub is a good thing. You can easily grab your pump because the testicals are free and loose.

I would call him also just to be on the safe side, since you had the addtional surgery to ensure you won't get an infection.

Thanks for the quick responses...

I don't think I elaborated enough last time. So it was just one surgery... but he installed a 22 cm titan otr and then put in 2 soft tip cylinders. I saw him 6 weeks post-op but was in too much pain to deflate/inflate my self. I saw him(and by him i'm referring to Dr. Eid) again last tuesday and I was able to deflate/inflate and he wants me to do it every day. hot baths were recommended after surgery for the first few weeks and he said it was okay and good even now to take them. What he didn't tell me was whether or not it was okay to inflate while i'm in taking a bath. I just wanted to make sure it's okay, and I will most likely call his office on monday morning to confirm, if I can try inflating it in the bath. I feel like it would be easier then because it doesn't hurt as much to put my hands around the scrotum area when im in the tub.

So basically, I think i may be able to max pump it from the bath right now... but if not, it's very tough to inflate all the way. I have a hard time holding it in place... i've read the two hand technique but I don't think i can really do that so well given the position of the pump.... I guess i'll keep trying. Are there any visual instructions for the two hand technique ? Also, I feel like i get the best grip holding it with one hand... but I feel like it's hard to max pump it with one hand?

I have a 22cm Titan, no RTE's though. I can't imagine any reason you shouldn't pump in the hot tub at this point. Pumping will get easier. For me it took several weeks of practice before it seemed somewhat natural and easy. The "two handed technique" is used quite a bit by AMS people. Dr Eid told me that the AMS units tend to be harder to pump than the Titans. For me, one handed is easiest and plenty adequate. However, if I want to go to the absolute max (not necessary or even desirable for sex, but still maybe useful for therapy) I can get an extra two or three partial pumps by using two hands since it gives me more leverage and strength. But, if I wait 2 or 3 minutes after one-handed pumping, I can also get about the same extra pumps with just one hand. I think the extra pumps get easier after 2-3 minutes of stretching.

It took me a while to learn the best way for me to hold the pump so it didn't slip away. I suspect that varies one person to another, and perhaps on the pump location. Give it a month of daily practice and experimentation and I'd be positive you'll find it MUCH easier. The Titan instructions show grabbing the pump between the thumb and one finger. That's a joke. It will slip away every time. For me, I have to wrap my index finger around the pump securely and press against that with my thumb. I grab the pump from the bottom of my scrotum, on the underside, and push my testicles out of the way so I'm only grabbing skin and the pump.

Good luck. In six months it will all be natural and feel great. Probably well before that too, but I suggest withholding any great evaluative judgements for a good six minths.

Thanks for the reply. That was helpful.

About how many pumps does it take you to get to max/how do you know when you have reached the max?

Also, my head is a bit softer than the rest of the penis... is that how it is for everyone?

Pumping will get much easier as your healing progresses. What method works best for you depends on several things, the location and orientation of your pump, the location of your testicles and the size of your scrotum. So experiment a lot and find what works best for you.

In my case I find it easiest to stand with one foot on the floor and the other foot on a raised object like the bed or a chair. Then I reach under my right leg with my right hand to grab the pump bulb. When I told my doc that is the way I did he at first he said I couldn't do that. But when I showed him I could do that and it worked for me he was surprised. He has installed about 1000 implants so has a lot of experience but is open to new ideas like this.

The original post about the two-handed pumping is here viewtopic.php?f=6&t=932

As was said above I have found that the "manufacture's suggested" way of holding the pump with two fingers doesn't work for me as it is too easy for the pump to slip out and bang a testicle. So I put my thumb on one side and then use my three longest fingers to cradle the back of the pump, with the middle finger providing the force to oppose the thumb's squeezing force.

Everyone is different ... cylinder length, etc. ... as far as when you reach "Max" ... after a while it will be when you can no longer squeeze the pump ball. Since you are just getting started ... pump until slightly uncomfortable (not painful) ... then wait a bit and add a pump or two.
Also, my head is a bit softer than the rest of the penis... is that how it is for everyone?

Again it's different for everyone ... basically it's a blood flow issue. You may also firm up as you get excited ... as you pump the cylinders tend to push out some of the blood in the glans.

My definition of "max" at this point pumping as many pumps as I can, squeezing as hard as I can. That level was painful when I first started pumping. In fact, at first, I couldn't take it. It took a good three months before that level of pumping was tolerable for longer periods of time. But, I could get a good hard erection well below that level and found that tolerable fairly quickly.

The number of pumps varies a little, depending on how fully deflated I am when I start (ie. how hard did I squeeze all the fluid out of the cylinders when I deflated), and how patient I am waiting for the pump to completely refill between pumps. I'd say 18-20, or so. But, even though we have the same length cylinders, I think differences in our girth could affect that quite a bit.
