Going forward with implant

Postby corporatestiff » Wed Jun 23, 2021 12:00 am

Haven't posted on here for a few months. I had been trying the trimix injections with little success on the strongest mix available. I made up to 70 units before giving up as the pain was too much to be offset by any pleasure. I am still occasionally using smaller doses as 20u and 70u seem to have about the same effect, which firms things up enough to be easier to work with, but still nowhere near enough for intercourse, but much less pain at 20u.

Since my cancer screenings will cause me to meet and exceed my insurance deductible, I am now planning to go forward with an implant. I met with my urologist about a week ago and discussed the procedure at length. My primary has cleared me for the procedure. Assuming I can bring my A1C down a little bit in the next few months I'll be good to go.

Implant will be a Coloplast Titan. Size will be determined at surgery (is that typical?). Looking at late Sept. or Oct. I guess I'll have one night stay in the hospital with catheter and drain removed the day after surgery. Planning for 2 weeks off work, but could be back after 1 week if everything goes well and I can limit lifting and sit more. Follow up at 2 weeks and again at 6 weeks. At 6 weeks I'll get training on use and should have approval to use.

Not at all looking forward to the process, but am hopeful for the results. My wife is on board now but still uneasy about elective surgery with my other health issues.

Tried pills, VED, and injections. Implant in future.

I went the bi-mix and tri-mix route…tri-mix was indeed very painful.

My implant impacted my life in many ways. First, there’s nothing like a functional dick. Second, not having to think about or deal with pills, injections is awesome. Third, the sex ain’t bad, lol

Who’s doing your surgery? Dr Tajkarimi was my guy.

Good luck.

Well tomorrow is the big day. I’m excited and nervous. I’ll will post how it went and my recovery. Planning on the AMS 700 LGX. I have to say how much this group of caring, sympathetic and no -judgmental guys has made my decision to do this so much easier. I will tell my urologist about it to pass onto patients. God speed and I’ll be in touch!!

Dr. Elizabeth Phillips will be doing the surgery. As I understand it, she's the best in my region.

You will be a little sore the first two days, but pain pills will be prescribed and I bruised really bad on my scrotum, but it starts going away in a few days. Just apply ice packs as often as possible. The more you do it, the faster you will heal up. You will really like the implant and to me getting an erection was very important in my life.
Good luck and keep us informed on your progress, will help somebody else that has the same problem we have gone through suffering from ED because of some problem.

Your plan sounds similar to what mine was.

My doctor did a stretch test during our pre-op meeting, but didn't determine the exact size until during the surgery.

I spent one night in the hospital with a catheter and then went home the next day. My doctor left me 60% inflated for the first two weeks. After two weeks, I had a follow-up appointment, and my doctor fully deflated me. Then it was eight weeks (he was really busy) before I returned to learn how to inflate and deflate.

During the first two weeks, I couldn't lift more than five pounds, and I had to slowly work back to full activity after that. And I wouldn't have wanted to go back to work before two weeks, and even then it was tough, physically, for a while.

The process is challenging, but the outcome, for me, has been well worth it. I cannot speak to your concerns about the difficulties your other health problems may present. My roommate the night of my surgery also got an implant. He had other health issues, but he came through the surgery and next day just fine.

You've said you have a good doctor, which I think is key. I followed my doctor's directions to the "t," and I didn't have any complications.

I hope this helps.

Well.. I home from hospital. Was told by surgeon that all went well. Infrapubic incision. AMS 700 lgx. I’m not sure what size. The card in the package wasn’t filled out. I see her in 10 days and will ask.
I’m sore. Maybe 3 out of 10. Scrotum is swollen and left abdomen is sore. I’ll assume that is where reservoir went. She sent me home with Oxycodone and antibiotic. Been icing 20 min on and the 20 minutes off. Left partially inflated and told not to do anything. Said she will see me in 10 days. I’m relieved this is over and soon to having fun with my new toy. I’ll write again soon.

Good luck tomorrow. I just took an Advil and have no pain the moment. Got ice on the boys. My scrotum is like a grapefruit and penis is bruised. All normal I guess. Keep us posted
