AMS 700 M/S pump

Postby wewokarents » Fri Mar 12, 2021 8:46 pm

I became bionic in the end of January. Have been cycling regularly for several weeks. It seems that the M/S pump is still kind of stiff. I know it has a break in period but still seems stiff. What has been the experience of other AMS 700 implantees?

The more you use it the softer it gets. Has the same AMS 700 M/S pump since 2015.
I pump up in the shower to the max regularly.

I'm now 10+ months post-op and I agree that the pump becomes less rigid over time. I'd been cycling one hour daily since about the 30-day mark but my surgeon told me during a follow-up appointment last month that I could reduce cycling to one-half hour a couple of times a week. I hope this helps!
Implanted 5/6/20 by Dr. Jesse Mills at UCLA; AMS 700 LGX 18 cm w/2 cm RTEs. I'm 76 & fit but had ED for 20 years. Pills/injections ultimately failed, including 3 ER trips for Priapism; Shockwave & embryonic stem cell therapies didn't help either.

Heat helps a lot. Really makes it easy to operate. I used a heating pad or hot shower as said before. Made a world of difference for me.

It gets easier to use over time and a bit softer. Just keep pumping.

Pump being stiff!

I got my AMS 700 last January of 2020. My pump was so stiff I thought I had made a bad mistake. A year later it is not an issue. After the first six months the pump broke in quite a bit. It is not an issue now at all!m

It will soften the more you pump it. One day you will be able to flatten it.
For maximum length pump, till it feels uncomfortable, this is the scar tissue breaking lose. If you pump it up and it hurts you need to pump it more often. If you don't max it out regularly the scar tissue will grow back causing pain.

OP’s comments sound like the very reason Boston Scientific issued the Nov.2020 FDA recall notice for their 700 MS Pumps

Recall reason; “..…. complaints of problems encountered during the initial activation of the device in which the patient and/or the physician is unable or has difficulty activating the pump in order to achieve cylinder inflation.”

Sounds likely that some doctors didn’t return their old inventory.

Other than the initial stiffness of the pump and finding the damn deflate button, mine has worked well. The stiffness is gone and the deflate button is there! LOL.
